I would like to change bylaw 9.3.2.1 that FHSAA put into play that the student tranfers and begins attending the new school on or prior to the beginning date of the sport season, as establsih in the FHSAA Calender. For example, I transferred to Flanagan Highschool from Sheridan Hills Christian School to play soccer and track, the soccer coach at Flanagan basically decided from even before tryouts that I wouldn't be making the team. When I found out after tryouts that I had not made the team, the coach didn't call me to tell me that I hadn't made the team I just figured it out on my own, I wanted to transfer back to Sheridan Hills because I still wanted to play soccer. I found out that I would not be able to transfer because the soccer season had started 5 days earlier.
All I want to do is be able to play soccer but if this bylaw does not get changed, I won't be able to. I think that bylaw 9.3.2.1, not being able to transfer after a sport season has started is, honestly, a waste of a rule because how many people actually try to transfer after a sport season starts? I don't think that it is so many that there should be a law preventing it.
If I get enough people to sign this petition to change this rule, I will be able to play the sport that I love! So please, sign this petition to change bylaw 9.3.2.1, Transfer of Schools before a Sport Season.
