Save our Manatee from becoming endangered

PROTECT OUR MANATEES FROM BEING ENDANGERED THEIR LIVES

Target:
FWC AND THE PEOPLE
MARINERS KEY WANTS TO PUT 17 BOAT SLIPS IN THE MANATEES WATER PATHWAY WHICH IS ALONG THE INTERCOASTAL OF LAKE PARK. THE MANATEES HAVE BEEN USING THEY SAME PATH FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. IF WE DON'T STOP MARINERS KEY FROM PUTTING IN THEIR BOAT SLIPS THE MANATEES WILL BE HARMED BY THE BOATERS PROPELLERS. PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION TO SAY THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT THE 17 BOAT SLIPS TO BE PUT IN THE MANATEES PATHWAY ALONG THE INTERCOASTAL.

Manatees
are protected under two federal laws; the U.S. Endangered Species Act of 1973 and the U.S. Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972. The Florida legislature also passed the Florida Manatee Sanctuary Act in 1978, allowing the state to establish and enforce boating restrictions in important manatee habitats. The responsibility for administering these laws lies with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

We the undersigned need to protect our Manatees from being hurt by boat propellers, ropes and anchors. As you know Mariners Key wants to put 17 boat slip right in the Manatees water path along the Intercoastal. These Manatees have been traveling the same path for the last 20 years or more.
