Hello my name is Renae Dickerson. My granddaughter is a senior in the Starkville, MS school district. After attempting to defend herself in a fight at school that she did not initiate, my granddaughter has been expelled and sent to an Alternative school. I understand that her actions have consequences so I decided against challenging the school's decision to send her to Alternative school. However, I have decided to challenge the school's policy that will not allow her to participate in her 2017 high school graduation that will be held away from the high school campus at a local college. I believe that this policy which denies a child the right to participate in their much anticipated high school graduation needs to be reconsidered and changed immediately. Taking away an accomplishment that a child has worked years to achieve is an unnecessarily harsh punishment. My granddaughter and all children who work hard to earn their high school diploma deserve the opportunity to march across the stage with their graduating class. There are many children who go through this same ordeal and this same policy could affect your child or a child that you know. Right is right and wrong is wrong and this policy is wrong. Therefore, I humbly ask you to please help me in my efforts to change this policy by signing this petition. Thank you for your support!

thank you all for your support, I will be meeting with the Starkville district school board on March 9th, I am asking for your prayers and for as many of you who can to join me at the meeting, it will be at the district office.
