Starbucks: Make Your Coffee Cups Eco-Friendly

  • by: Amelia Meister

Over 2.5 billion single-use coffee cups are discarded every year in the UK. Starbucks, on of the biggest coffee chains, is contributing greatly to this environmental disaster. Their coffee cups are not recyclable, contained polyethylene in order to keep them waterproof and preventing them from recycling or biodegrading. To add to that, none of their cups are made from recycled materials.

In this day of eco-consciousness Starbucks needs to take the lead and make their cups eco-friendly. They must start to use paper or cardboard cups made from 100% recycled material so that the huge quantity of waste generated from their cups isn't going into landfills.

Sign now to protect the environment from excessive coffee cup waste. By signing today you are sending a strong message to Starbucks that it must be a leader in environmental responsibility.

Mr Rhys Iley,

As a person greatly concerned with the environment I find it appalling that Starbucks UK is doing so little to reduce the environmental impact of your coffee cups.

Starbucks must stop using polyethylene in the lining of their cups to ensure they can be recycled. You must also start sourcing cups made from 100% recycled materials.

In this day of environmental crisis and eco-consciousness Starbucks must emerge as a leader of waste reduction.
