Demand Air Conditioning to Inmates in Whiteville Prison

Inmates in the Columbus County Prison system are exposed to extreme heat conditions. Many have become very sick due the heat. Prison officials have air conditioning in their offices and the guards have rooms they can visit whenever they become overheated. Prisoners are given large industrial fans that circulate the heat that is in the prison. There are no open windows to provide outside air to assist the fans with cooling the prisoners. When asked, one prison official stated they have no intention on getting the air conditioning fixed for the general population of prisoners. Many of us have loved ones in prison and they have expressed their concern and how they are, often times unable to breathe in the hot air. This is dangerous because the extreme heat does have an impact on the prisoners (or any human being) mental state of mind. Its also dangerous for prison officials and other prisoners as it could lead to a riot inside the prison.
