Ban Sales of Endangered Shark Fins!

A new study of 32 shark fin soup samples from restaurants across the U.S. found that 26 bowls contained fins from the endangered scalloped hammerhead and threatened sharks such as the spiny dogfish and smooth hammerhead. These specific shark species are not listed on restaurant menus, so customers may be eating endangered sharks without even knowing it.

The U.S. regulates domestic shark fishing, but shark fins are typically imported from Asian countries. Shark fin soup is a tasteless food consumed mainly as a status symbol and indication of wealth. The "delicacy" is completely unnecessary and its sales are contributing to the decline of sharks worldwide.

Please sign the petition to convince state legislators to ban the sales of threatened and endangered shark fins in the U.S.

To: U.S. State Legislators,

We are concerned with the continuing sales of shark fin soup in the U.S. We have recently learned that much of this soup contains fins from endangered and threatened sharks.
