The 9/11 First Responders Health Bill is a vital piece of legislation. The bill would provide funding for a health program to treat first responders, construction, clean-up workers, and residents who inhaled toxic particles after the collapse of the World Trade Center towers. This bill is a clear declaration to those that serve and protect that we will serve and protect their needs just as they have done on countless occasions. Please find it in your hearts to sign this petition. Tell the U.S. Congress that passing this healthcare bill for 9/11 First Responders is their number one priority.
We the undersigned petition for the 9/11 First Responders Health Bill to be passed without any further obstruction from the Senate Republicans. If anything, Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.), one of the bills co-sponsors, impassioned plea should at least have made it clear how the country feels about the heroes of September 11th 2010. This vote is about being an American, because from the days at Bunker Hill, when the patriots put down their plows and took up muskets to defend and create our freedom, we always try to take care of them, Sen. Charles Schumer said. The heroes of 9/11 are no different.
Earlier this year, the House passed the bill; but Senate Republicans continue to filibuster it. The Daily Show host - Jon Stewart put the stalled 9/11 health bill center stage on his final show of the year. The Senate Republicans continue to not only filibuster this piece of legislation but everything else that crosses their path. Filibustering this bill is not acceptable. People's lives are at stake here. We need you to step up to the plate and do the right thing. You need to support those that have constantly helped others to safety.
It is very much appreciated that you have taken the time to listen to our concerns regarding this matter. We sincerely hope that the time that you have spent reviewing this petition has made you realise the error of your ways. Go forth and do what is right.
I am pleased that the 9/11 First Responders Health Bill has finally passed the U.S. Senate; however, I am disappointed that the amount that was in the original bill was reduced to $4.3 billion. Nevertheless, this is certainly better than nothing.
I thank everyone for all there hard work.
Seasons Greetings,
Shain Ellison Thomas
