STOP TOBY BRIDGES FROM POISONING WOLVES, WEBSITE!

we the undersigned are extremely concerned about a man who has a website explaining how to kill wolves in Montana, whether they are on the protected list or not. His name is Toby Bridges and this is his website, killing time 2, where he states what to use and how to do it. He is angry about the protection of wolves and has stated he intends to take matters into his own hands if the wolves are not taken off the protection list....

"That Side" of the wolf issue certainly has not played clean.  Every aspect of bringing those Canadian wolves into the Northern Rockies is tainted with illegally gotten gains, false claims, deceit and outright lies.  Sportsmen are now fighting back.  But, how do they win a situation as dire as the game losses already suffered, especially when the final word tends to lie with a U.S. District Court judge (Donald Molloy, of Missoula) who is more in sync with freeloading environmental groups, who milk the justice system and the American public out of millions of dollars annually, than he is with the sportsmen who footed the bill for the conservation projects that rebuilt big game populations.  (That makes a lot of us wonder what's in it for him???) Well, many sportsmen now realize that it's time to revert to the same tactics, forget about carrying on a clean fight, and get rid of wolves.  While the "Other Side" continues to think this is all about a legal battle in court, should Judge Molloy once again decide in favor of the environmental groups, the sportsmen of the Northern Rockies are now ready to turn to trench warfare.  And that is likely to include some "chemical warfare".

Oh, I'm not talking about the banned poison 10-80 that is sure death to predators, but a much "sweeter" alternative - one that anyone can run down to the Good Food Store and purchase right across the counter.  And that is Xylitol artificial sweetener.  And the cost is just $10 to $12 per pound for this sugar-alcohol based sweetener that's made from birch, raspberries and corn.

Here's what Snopes has to say about Xylitol and canines...

"Just three grams of Xylitol can kill a 65-pound dog.  The compound doesn't affect glucose levels in people, but when ingested by dogs it can cause a dangerous surge of insulin.  (In as little as 15 minutes, the blood sugar of a dog that has eaten gum containing Xylitol may register a marked drop in blood sugar.)  At higher doses, Xylitol is believed toxic to the canine liver."

While the above is in reference to "dogs", it is just as lethal to the wild cousins of the domesticated pets that most of us have. Snopes goes on to share...

"A dog that has eaten an item containing Xylitol can be rapidly hit by a dangerous drop in blood sugar that causes weakness, lethargy, loss of coordination, collapse, and seizures.  Those symptoms can develop within 30 minutes, and a dog so afflicted will need immediate veterinary treatment to survive.  Without help, irreversible brain trauma occurs and the patient dies."

Wolf control now has a new, until now secret, weapon.  I have a feeling that if Molloy goes against the wishes of today's hunters, there's going to be a whole lot of very sweet gut piles and wolf-killed carcasses dotting the landscape this fall.  Along with some supplemental feeding of wolf pups come next spring.  -  Toby Bridges
