Foie gras - French for 'fatty liver' - is produced by forcing metal pipes down the throats of ducks and geese and force-feeding them until their livers become infected with a disease called 'hepatic steatosis,' and unnaturally enlarged to up to ten times the natural size. In many cases, this causes their organs to rupture, scars the oesophagus, and makes it painful to move.
Foie gras is banned from being produced in the UK, but many shops and restaurants continue to legally import and sell it. However, city councils like York and Bolton have now banned the sale of foie gras on all council-owned properities in these cities, which goes a long way to helping end this cruelty. This cruel practice must end. Why must we continue to torture innocent animals all for the benefit of people? People can surely find something else to eat. |
This is TORTURE to these poor helpless , innocent animals and ANYONE who does this or who WANTS it are nothing more than HEARTLESS MONSTERS ! It MOST DEFINITLY needs to be BANNED ALTOGETHER EVERYWHERE !
I used to think that if people really knew what was involved they would balk at this sort of food, sadly I'm coming to the conclusion that for some people self gratification/greed is more important than any consequences.
This is absalutely digusting. When are so called human beings going to stop treating animals as though they have no feelings. The people that treat animals the way they do should have the same treatment done to them and then see how they like it. It is time that all forms of animal cruelty stopped.

It is a big shame that some people like to eat sick livers and don't care about torturing innocent animals to get sick livers! I ask especialy meat consumers: "How could you put your head asleep on your pillow and dream nice dreams?" Please stand up and be the voice of these innocent animals you are eating daily. Do you want to be treatened this way? When you want to eat meat, than it is also your responsibility as a consumer and buyer of meat, that your meat is treatened respectful and died a humane dead, without kicking, beating, stabbing, torturing.
