Ban Porn

Pornography should be banned as a threat to women because it dehumanizes women into becoming sexual objects - things, commodities. Women in pornographic movies are often raped and forced to act in degrading ways. But viewers of these films come to believe that these women enjoy these acts, leading men into believing that this is the way that all women like to be treated.
This topic would be good to discuss because in the internet age it is becoming increasingly relevant. Here are four reasons why the private consumption of porn makes society and the individual worse off, supported by websites justifying my claims:
1. Effect on children

Children suffer on both sides of the market. On the demand side, adverts and pop-ups soliciting the attention of children are well known, and play a significant role in sexualising young children at an early age. More harm comes on the supply side. The sad and disgusting fact remains that child porn will always be inextricably attached to adult pornography because it is a well observed fact that people become desensitised to material that they watch a lot of and escalate to more extreme types of pornography like bestiality, fetishes and child porn. There is also no doubt that certain websites in the adult porn industry financially subsidise and support child porn websites. There are over 100,000 websites providing child porn.

"39 million homes receive the adult channels in scrambled form, while the number of children with potential exposure to such images is about 29 million

Morality Continues to Decay. Barna Research Group, November 3, 2003
"A study of university networks by Palisades Systems found searches for child pornography at 230 colleges nationwide. The research revealed that 42% of all searches on file-to-file sharing systems involved child or adult pornography. The study also found that 73% of movie searches were for pornography, 24% percent of image searches were for child pornography, and only 3% of the searches did not involve pornography or copyrighted materials."
April 1, 2003 – Des Moines Register2. It is addictive, and has a negative effect on the brain

Porn has been described as being as powerful, or more powerful than heroin on the brain. Dopamine, the neurochemical behind reward seeking behaviour is released when porn is viewed. Neural pathways are created and the brain is left craving more and more porn. Like any addictive substances tolerance develops and more and more hardcore images are viewed, and the amount of time spent viewing increases. It is incredibly easy to get addicted.

3. It changes our view of women in society for the worse

Porn objectifies women. They become mere things, not people; objects of lust and sexual gratification. Porn eliminates the need to connect with a woman emotionally or intellectually. This carries through into relationships, where men have unrealistic expectations of women, and continue to see them as objects of gratification, leading to higher rates of breakups.

4. It is harmful and dangerous for those participating

The porn world is not the voluntaristic, glamorous fantasy it is perceived to be. It is exploitative, using women who often turn to porn as a last resort. It is common for porn starts to get trapped into a sordid world where death from STDs, suicide, homocide and drug use is common. It is basically prostitution, and following the most basic of economic principles, increased demand will result in increased supply, so any consumption of porn is contributing to this unpleasant industry.

Take a look at the evidence and the sober truth of the effect of porn on children, society, and your brain, and the nature of the porn industry. Freedom of action or the harm principle are irrelevant here. Porn may be a private practise, but it does harm people. For these reasons, it should be banned.
We The undersigned would apprecciate to have Porn banned .As listed it is a harm and degrades women.Porn is an issue all over the country and we believe it is not needed. It makes false expectations. Is part of the cause of rape and sexual assault and porn kills braincells.
