Ban the gas chamber for our pets at Walker, LA - WALKER ANIMAL SHELTER!!!

  • by: Lindsay Fruge
  • recipient: Town of Walker Louisiana, Walker City Council
Animals exposed to CO suffer convulsions and muscular spasms crying out in distress, beating their heads against the wall of the gas chamber, fighting each other, and trying desperately to escape including severe deprivation of oxygen and or CO poisoning causing severe chest pain, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, headache, seizure, emotional distress, joint pain, tremors......and thats just a few. Considering the  behavior, pain and suffering, carbon monoxide is considered by many to be an unacceptable form of euthanasia. A "person" with high moral standards should not allow this barbaric treatment of our sheltered animals.  Do NOT allow our pets to be inhumanly killed and sign our petition today!!!
We the undersigned as a community are against the gas chamber.  We ask that you consider our plea and do not take this issue lightly.  If you can't find it in your hearts for the City of Walker Animal Shelter to become a no kill shelter, please consider euthanasia by injection (EBI) to be the only acceptable and humane means of euthanasia for all shelter animals. To help our efforts, American Humane Association recently commissioned a study comparing the cost of EBI and gas chambers that proves EBI is less costly to communities. Using data from an animal sheltering organization, the study shows that the cost to use carbon monoxide poisoning is $4.98 per animal. The cost to use EBI, however, is only $2.29 per animal. Thanks for taking your time reading our concerns for these animals in the City of Walker.
