Love is all we need...and EQUALITY!

Canadians for American Gay Marriage

Target:
civil rights, equality, America, United States, Canada, gay, straight, sexuality, gay rights, marriage
Sponsored by:
This is an effort to show the United States that its neighbour to the north supports gay marriage (kudos for us for being one of the only countries to legally recognize it).  If we reach 1,000 signatures I will send it along to the White House and every state senate.   Help me prove that straight doesn't have to equate a narrow mind and that regardless of our sexuality everyone should be able to marry and have have equal rights!  So if you or someone you know is gay or if you just believe in equality please sign!

I just returned from a rally in Vancouver to protest today's decision of the California Supreme Court to uphold proposition 8 - we won't back down until this discriminatory and blatant disregard for civil rights proposition is overturned.

i am a "married" lesbian living in michigan. my self and my wife were married in sault ste marie, on last year. even thoe we were legally married in canada the state of mi refueses to reconize our marrage because of the simple fact that "gay" marrage is not allowed in the state that we live in. so i did some investagating and learned that if me and my wife are married state side in a state that same sex marrage is legal, our union would be legal only in that state. there has been many attempts to have the same sex issue put on our voting ballots here in michigan and with no prevale. my sister was recently married to a man and i couldent help feeling like i was robbed of my day like that, the whole wedding thing i mean, because we had to go out of town to get married if that makes any sents. and now i am trying to take my wifes name, but we have had to get an attorny and go to court just to legaly change my name. this is rediclous already! the people of the lgbt community should have the same rights as everyone else... its the 21 centery lets cautch up with the times already!!! >> Crystal Stuart, Sault Ste Marie, MI

The United States is a wonderful country that is continually evolving. Just think, once upon a time segregation was an accepted norm in many parts of the US. And there were a great many fighting against awarding basic rights and freedoms to African Americans. But justice prevailed and now the same behaviour that was acceptable at that point in history is inconceivable to any thoughtful, conscience person. Different group...similar fight...the right to be treated with respect. The right to have our relationships legally recognized. Human rights should exist for everyone...not just a select few.
