This is my plea for Discovery Channel to withdraw their $3 million lawsuit against Jonathan and Andy Hillstrand.
I find it appalling that this is even an issue. I understand that there was a breach of contract, but won't the repercussions of this decision alone going to make Discovery lose money? I know for a fact that I'm not going to watch it anymore. Not only that, but they are sueing them for their livelyhood. 3 million dollars is rediculous, they will probably have to sell their boats and fire the crews just to pay it. I find this lawsuit shameful and greedy, and I bet Discovery will have a hard time finding people willing to work on their show now. From what I've heard, im surprised they didn't try to sue Captain Phil Harris' estate because his death would have been a hinderence of some kind to the show's production.
We the undersigned would like to request that you withdraw your lawsuit against the Hillstrand Brothers. We understand that they might have breached the contract of agreement, but we also understand that this is their livelyhood you will take away from them. If your lawsuit goes through, they will face damages far greater than that which you may have suffered. This is their LIVES I am talking about, not some account which needs reparation. In the face of this, we beg you to withdraw your lawsuit, for the Hillstrand brothers' sake, and for the sake of your company's name.
