End Dolphin Slaughter in Japan

End Dolphin Slaughter in Japan

Target:
Mr. Taro Aso, Prime Minister of Japan

The Japanese government is allowing a few fishermen to slaughter thousands of dolphins and small whales in drive hunts

During drive hunts, fishermen panic and confuse migrating pods of dolphins and other small whales with loud banging, then herd them, by the hundreds, into shallow coves, and then butcher them one by one. Every year, some 20,000 small cetaceans of several species, some of which are endangered, including bottlenose dolphins, striped dolphins, spotted dolphins, Risso's dolphins, short-finned pilot whales, white-sided dolphins, and false killer whales, are killed or taken in the drives, sometimes illegally. The hunts have been universally condemned by marine experts around the world as brutal, inhumane, and unsustainable, but pleas to stop them have fallen on deaf ears. Therefore, we, marine scientists and zoo and aquarium professionals, are asking for your support to bring this unconscionable practice to an end. [More]

Mr. Junichiro Koizumi
Prime Minister
State of Japan
Tokyo
Japan
We, the undersigned, join with the global community of marine scientists and zoo and aquarium professionals in condemning the brutal and inhumane practice of dolphin drive hunts carried out in your country. Dolphins are highly intelligent, complex, emotional, social, and sentient mammals, and we urge you to exercise your authority to end this cruel, callous, and unconscionable practice.

the dolphin's smile is nature's greatest deception - the cove.

Fisherman will often slash at dolphins that get near their boats because they know that the others won't leave an injured dolphin behind. It's so disgusting the lack of humanity in killing these beings for commercial exploitation. Because of this, I REFUSE to support the Japanese economy by boycotting any goods that come out of that country. Greatness doesn't come from the power to control and kill but comes from the measure of our empathy and the capability of remorse.

I am not against eating. If at some point in their history, these proud people turned to dolphins to stave off starvation, they are within their rights. Where as I myself will not eat dolphin, or beef... I am not opposed to chicken or turkey. My problem with all of it, is the how. It is inhumane and just outright wrong. It reflects badly on all of us, as people, as a species. We are better than this. Fish, if you must... but do it right. Leave the element of escape and chance, the skill necessary to harness or capture a creature. None of the individuals I have seen driving and slashing in any of the footage looked starved. It is lunacy and it must stop. Be altered. Changed.

a group of dolphins once swam around a group of swimmers to keep them safe from a group of sharks. The swimmers were unaware of the sharks until after the event. The people would've been attacked had it not been for the dolphins. Now we need to do the same for them.

I have been disgusted by the actos of the Japanese with their cruel, uncompassionate, inhuman slaughter of Dolphins, shown in the movie The Cove. The very fact that it is entirely hidden from the public view tells a horrible vision of a corrupt government and an ugly race of people. The sweet face of the Japanese seems to simply be a mask. I would never visit Japan based on this. I am a radio DJ in Australia and I will personally be focusing much of my attention on exposing the betrayal Japan has set upon nature, people, dolphins and the poison of mercury they wish to feed their own children. I never knew the true face of Japan until now. I was not born before World War II. But it seems a false front and a fake smile is perpetrated by Japan. They lie, they profit by lying and they cannot evolve because the government seems to be run by uneducated monkies hell-bent on profiting from cruelty. This is being exposed and I hope the people who gleefully slaughter these poor creatures and laugh while doing it, are visited by Karma. I wish their lives to hell. And to the corrupt government officials who collect all of that extra money from their lies, may you suffer as you make others suffer. Grow up. Become smarter. Evolve your mind

Dolphins not only play a vital role in marine ecosystem, they are also capable of developing bonds with human beings. Killing a dolphin is nearly like killing a pet such a cat or a dog!
