In October 2011 1,000 California Foster Homes were matched up with sex offenders addresses. Out of the 1,000,  600 of the highlighted offenders were considered high risk. This is a major fail on the part of CPS and the Social Workers placing these children in these homes. If they were doing their jobs correctly and not carelessly, they would have conducted full and complete background checks on all adults living in the homes, they would have made sure that no one in the homes have been charged with any crime against another human being, but most importantly they would have maintained regular private contact with all children they placed to make sure that they were being treated properly. Most children placed in foster homes have a long history of sexual, mental and physical abuse. It is not okay to remove a child from an unsafe environment and place them into another unfamiliar unsafe environment.
