Funds for Irelands feral cats and kittens

Lorcan was rescued on 21st July 2011 as you see him in the photo, his eyes rotting in his head from an untreated eye infection.  He underwent an operation on 22nd July to remove the decayed and rotting flesh as well as his eyes, rendering him blind for life. He is presently making a good recovery.  There are many other Lorcans out there like him in Ireland, living lives of the most unbelievable distress, discomfort and torment through ignorance, abandonment and uncontrolled breeding of cats.  This CANNOT be allowed to continue and has to STOP!!!!  It is completely UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

We call on Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Enda Kenny and the Minister for Agriculture, Simon Coveney to, as a matter of priority, make funds available immediately to cat rescues in Ireland to carry out a free comprehensive trap/neuter/return programme for feral/stray/homeless cats in Ireland in order to avoid future kittens ending up like Lorcan.

We also ask for urgent legislation to protect cats in Ireland who are presently regarded as vermin, treated like pests, hated by many of the population and suffer unimaginably as a result.  This CANNOT be allowed to continue.
We, the undersigned, are outraged that a young defenceless kitten could be allowed to suffer such horrendous neglect, agony and pain in Ireland today!!!!
