We the undersigned ask that the committee vote to re-instate softball for the 2016 Olympics. The hopes and dreams of thousands of young women all over the world depend on the sport of softball being a part of the Olympics. It has been said that softball doesn't have enough international support to justify it being in the Olympics and it has been dominated by the Americans. We hope to show with this petition and others like it that softball is truly an international sport that deserves Olympic recognition and should and always be a part of the Olympics. In the sport of softball, the Olympic Games is our World Series, our Superbowl, our World Cup and being in the Olympics is vital to the future of our sport. Please re-evaluate the decision that was made in 2006 by voting to re-instate the sport that we love to play and watch.

I am 21 years old and an active softball player at Belmont Abbey College in NC. I have been playing for 12 years and to see that softball has been taken out of the Olympics was devastating. Softball is one of the sports that does not offer much after college. I understand having an Olympic team would only allow 9 lucky women to play, but taking those 9 opportunities away really crushes the dreams of the youth today.

There are also not all of the doping problems of other sports. Right now the United States leads the way in softball, but it used to be the same way in baseball and basketball. But times change, and other countries catch up when their young athletes discover that they can become Olympians.

We always have looked forward to watching softball in the olympics. I personally coach girls 15-u softball and all the girls always watch it and talk about how proud they are of our team and what they learned by watching. They also talk about their favorite players and how they want to be like them.These girls and myself and many many others look forward to seeing our TEAM USA compete.
