We the undersigned urge the members of the International Olympic Committee to vote to re-instate Softball for the 2016 Olympic Games.
We the undersigned ask that the committee vote to re-instate softball for the 2016 Olympics. The hopes and dreams of thousands of young women all over the world depend on the sport of softball being a part of the Olympics. It has been said that softball doesn't have enough international support to justify it being in the Olympics and it has been dominated by the Americans. We hope to show with this petition and others like it that softball is truly an international sport that deserves Olympic recognition and should and always be a part of the Olympics. In the sport of softball, the Olympic Games is our World Series, our Superbowl, our World Cup and being in the Olympics is vital to the future of our sport. Please re-evaluate the decision that was made in 2006 by voting to re-instate the sport that we love to play and watch.

The sport of softball needs to return to the Olympics as I feel that it is a great representation of the spirit of the Games. The players are great ambassadors of the sport and having it in the Olympics best allows for them to showcase their skill and character to the world. Taking that away only serves to undermine that spirit.

Softball is a respected sport with a large following worldwide. Why should it be ditched when extreme sports like BMX cycling have recently included. If there isn't enough time for everything then just keep the more traditional sports for the Olympic arena.

I can't image softball not being at the next games. The popularity of the sport has grown tremendously. If it is taken away that would also possibily take future scholarships away from young girls that dream of one day playing in the olympics. For many young ladies they have a true passion for the sport. Let's continue to "PLAY BALL!!!

Hello, I'm Katie Witwer and I play on the Akron Ponies. We were undefeated this year and had hopes of growing up to be softball olympians but now our dreams are crushed because of this decision.

My daughter is 9 year old A Ball player and she to has dreams of playing for the USA Olimpic softball team. Softball is one of the largest sports in America and a huge part of Texas sports. Our girls deserve a chance to see all there hard work take them to an olimpc gold one day.

I think that softball should remain in the olympics because it is a good motivation for yound girls all around the world to continue to play softball, and play to their full potential every time they pick up a softball. I know that I have always had many hopes and dreams to play on the Olympic softball team. The USA has almost dominated every other softball team in the olympics since 2000, losing only 1 game (the gold medal game vs. Japan in 2008.) People think that softball should be taken out of the olympics because the USA dominates. You can't punish a team for being good, i mean.. doesn't EVERY team want to dominate?? and be good?? Here's an example.. Michael Phelps is like the best swimmer in the world, winning 8 gold medals this year in Beijing,) but swimming isn't being elimonated, even though the USA dominates at it. Another example, Shawn Johnson and Nastia Liukin are some of the best olympic gymnists, winning a combined 9 total medals in 2008, but gymnastics isn't being elimonated either. The USA is one of the best at this sport also. Softball is a great sport that shouldn't be elimonated from the olympics. If a sport was actually going to be elimonated from the olympics, elimonate one that is't so popular, and is a dissapointment in medals, such as boxing, rowing, and judo, only winning 1 medal this year; bronze. Therefore, I think that softball should remain in the olympics, even if the USA is the best. Working to be the best is key, and USA Softball has been unlocked.

Hi. Well I have been playing softball for about 8 years now. I started playing softball when I was 7 and I started playing travel softball when i was 9. I also play basketball but i LOVE softball. I really want to do this when i get older and i want to play for the U.S.A. i play short stop and i want to be just like Natasha Watley. She is soo quick! I am also very fast and when people tell me they have never seen a better short stop then me i say i have Natasha Watley is way better then me. I just want to play softball for the USA and i want to be just like Natasha.
