BANDIT, Big Black Dog Who Stole My Heart!

Help Spread Awareness of The Big Black Dog Syndrome!

Target:
To change the misconceptions connected to Big Black Dogs in Shelters!
Big Black Dogs in shelters countrywide face lives behind bars in cages, or no life at all.  Their euthanasia rates are alarmingly high.  There are many misconceptions attached to their color and size; just being black and big!  We can help spread an awareness to this syndrome; changing one misconception at a time!  What are the reasons for it?  Because black can be scary or intimidating.  Big dogs can be hard to handle, and just too much bother.  They're not as pretty as the lighter colored critter in the next cage.  Or simply because they are hard to photograph, or be seen in industrial surroundings of grays, and dim areas, and therefore, not marketable!  Pretty lame reasons, and they don't deserve the bad rap that they are getting.  My own Big Black Dog and I are on a mission to change the opinions about these wonderdogs and have begun by writing and publishing a book about the subject, and the lovability of Big Black Dogs.  Our hope is that you will fall in love with Bandit, and when it's time to bring a pet into the family, that a Big Black Dog will be considered, and rescued from a local shelter.  You won't believe the joy they will bring you, and that they want to give back!  That is why so many can be trained as service, assistance, and therapy dogs.  Join our petition, and help spread the word about this phenomenon called The Big Black Dog Syndrome.  We've been able to get coverage on the ABC7 News Channel in Los Angeles, when they featured us in a segment recently on this subject.  A link to the segment is attached.  http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/los_angeles&id=7033578.  To learn more, search The Big Black Dog Syndrome through any search engine, and visit our website at http://www.banditbigblackdog.com/.

I have had rottweiller's for almost 20 years and they are the most amazing, lovable, mushy dogs and are great with kids. Enough already!

This is unbelievable, but very true!!!!! And beautiful black cats have the same trouble in shelters. I have had black cats and dogs in my life. They are very sweet animals, just as other colors of cats and dogs. They are quite a bit more sensitive to cold, and will curl up on top of heater vents. They do love to play in the dark, because they're good at it. There is nothing mean, or scary, or evil about them. They are just as sweet as any other cat or dog. Shunning black animals is a sad and ignorant thing to do. I rescued two sister kittens several years ago - - - my daughter has them now. I picked the tortie fade first, and then remembered the neighbor said that no one ever paid the black kitten any attention or touched her. I turned around and went back for her too. I could not leave her behind. She is such a sweet little girl!!! And black dogs seem to try harder to be friendly and loving, because they sense prejudice in people. It is so sad, that they be judged by their color!!!!!!
