Grant Paul Watson and Peter Hammarstedt visas into Australia to continue to fight against whaling

Target:
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
Sponsored by:
Back in 2007, Prime Minister Rudd made a promise to the Australian Public that if elected he would protect our whales off Australian Shores in the Southern Ocean Sanctuary.  Australia's Whale Sanctuary was established in 1999, but since 1986 more than 10,000 whales have been illegally slaughtered and processed by the Japanese factory fleet and to date there have been no prosecutions for these horrendous crimes.  Prime Minister Rudd said to the Australian people that ocean patrols would be backed up by legal action and Japan would be taken to the International Court of Justice or the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea.  This now appears to be all lies.

Captain Paul Watson founder of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and his first officer, Peter Hammarstedt have been so far refused visa entry to Australia to continue his fight against Japanese whaling.  Despite having a visa granted every year and never having a criminal conviction, our government has seen fit to tie up the process in an attempt to thwart the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's attempts to save our whales after requests to do so by the Japanese government.  We need to send a strong message to PM Kevin Rudd that we want no part in this cruel and disgusting slaughter of these beautiful creatures and we want the Japanese government stopped from continuing to commit these crimes.  Please sign this petition to tell Prime Minister Rudd that Australians and the whole world are watching to see that he keeps this important promise and stands up to protect the whales in Australian waters.

Dear Prime Minister Rudd

We the undersigned, including members of the Australian public and world citizens are concerned that promises made by you in regards to Japanese whaling are not being kept.  The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and ALL of its crew are imperative in  Australia's fight in protecting our whales against illegal whaling from Japan.

We respectfully request that you;

1. Issue visas to Paul Watson and Peter Hammarstedt so that they may continue to protect our whales from illegal slaughter.

2. That you Mr Rudd and the Labor party remain strong in your commitment to the Australian public.  We trust that you will continue to uphold your promise of legal action against the Japanese in the event of illegal whaling in our waters and provide  the resources promised  to protect these whales.

Thank you for your time in addressing this important matter.

Sea Shepherd and Paul Watson's vigilant fight against the inhuman brutality of the Japanese whalers. I wish to give a very straightforward explanation, especially now since "Whale Wars" came to television. Look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqpXYOGZ9tQ The japanese whalers claim it's all for "Research". This is the message on the Japanese Whalers both. Just because one says it's their culture doesn't make it correct. This is against International laws of the sea, as always nobdy cares nor do many countries....... And you wonder why the world is the way it is!!!!!

stop the japan's killers, stop the japanese pirates, who will now believe that the fault is on seashepherd side. Shame on all involved governments if they don't stop the "research hunting". At least two piracy acts have been done within the territorial water of Australia and NZ what are doing their environment ministers? Is it only a question of money are we so afraid of boycotting japanese products? Wake up before it's too late.

Killing whales is not the way civilised people behave. Why does Australia wish to be associated with this?

RESPECT FOR ALL THE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE TO FIGHT AGAINST WHALING AND SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE WHO CONTINUE THEIR BARBARIC PRATICES... NATURE WILL REMEMBER...

With today's sinking of the Ady Gil by Japanese whalers, the time to stop whaling all together has come. It is disgusting that one nation goes against the wishes of the world and continues it's barbaric pratices. There is no need for their so called 'research' it's an excuse to indulge their savage appetites. Stop whaling now - before the damage to the already fragile eco system caused by the destruction of these great creatures is too great to repair and we suffer the consequences for eternity.

Why do things need to be brought to the very brink before the majority finally catches on that we do indeed have a profound effect on the planet and all of it's creatures, and that it is worth protecting at all costs? Aren't we evolved enough as a species yet, to have enough foresight to make an impact before it's too late?
