Help Stop new Iowa Trapping Laws from Going into Effect!

We, the citizens of the great State of Iowa, do hereby sign this petition to show our disapproval to the proposed revisions to Iowa Code Subsection 455A.5(6) Chapter 108; if passed, this amendment to Iowa law will remove all personal bag limits for the North American River Otter, and the Bobcat. Essentially allowing trappers to trap as many Otters and Bobcats as possible, until the state-wide quota is reached.

River Otter Population In the state of Iowa is approximately 4500, and before the season was opened, the annual growth rate was increasing by 7% annually. The rate of growth of the population would be reduced to zero if 6.5% of the fall population were harvested each year. That is if 298 otters were trapped every year. The DNR Quota is 500 otters per year, and trappers generally reach this quota in 10-15 days.

Please help stop this proposed amendment from becoming part of Iowa Law
