HUMANE SOCIETY PRESIDENT PERSECUTED by COPS!
The President of the Humane Society of Upper Valley, in Menan, Jefferson County, Id. is being persecuted by local law enforcement for only doing her job!
We know this is a rather long-winded petition but we have made it as brief as possible without leaving out any important facts, so please take the time to read it fully. We think you will agree that this is an important and urgent matter.

The President of this Humane Society, Andi Elliott is under attack by the law enforcement officers in her county merely for doing her job, specifically by Sheriff Blair Olsen, who has always thought of her as a troubesome "tree-hugging" meddler. Andi is a true champion for the cause of animal welfare and has worked with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department in the past on other cruelty and confiscation cases but has been met with nothing but opposition by Sheriff Olsen.
Recently, Andi received a call from a local TV reporter who had received some calls complaining about starving horses in Menan, Jefferson County, Id. During the course of investigating this case it was discovered that the offender was a friend of Sheriff Olsen, who of course tried to stimey the investigation and REFUSED to let Andi file a complaint, but Andi, true warrior for the cause that she is, was not detered.
Next day she drove to the area in question to take some pictures. She came upon a house located near the offenders property, so she drove into the gravel lane leading to the house to see if anyone was home in hopes of finding someone that might give her permission to take some pics from that vantage point, but it looked as if no one was home. Andi did not even bother getting out of the car, but took some pics of the horses across in the field while sitting in her car.
A few days later, Sheriff Olsens' deputy appeared at her door with a warrant for her arrest for tresspassing! Turns out, someone was home at the house and just happened to be (another) friend of the sheriffs', as well as a friend of the owner of the neglected horses.
It appears as if some "Good Old Boys Club" type "JustUS" is being meeted out by the "brotherhood" down there in Jefferson County, Id., as now they are out to persecute Andi with a trumped up charge they know she is not guilty of in hopes of discouraging her "troublesome" animal welfare advocacy in that county, and to hopefully run her out of town. She IS NOT popular among the many animal abusers and others of that ilk in her area, those indifferent to the suffering of animals.
They have tried to offer her a plea bargan, but Andi is adamant that she will not plea guilty to anything she does not feel guilty of...KUDOS to her for that. We are SO proud of you Andi! YOU are the ONLY voice for the animals in your area and defeat in this case would mean Jefferson Country would not only lose a great champion for the animals but would lose their ONLY champion for animals. How DARE they treat you like a common criminal as if as if you were an average schmoe / type street thug!
Also, it appears that the County Tresspassing Statutes are on Andis side as the local law requires that property be clearly marked with a sign of a certain demensions saying POSTED NO TRESSPASSING and Andi says there was no such sign,....the statutes also state that in order for it to be tresspassing the offender would have had to enter the property with THE INTENT to tresspass so there again, Andi feels that the law is on her side - there was no intent to tresspass, only to investigate a reported case of cruelty.
Andi has decided to fight this case to the fullest, demanding her right to a jury trial. She feels & we agree, that this could be an important precident setting case for her AND THE COUNTY, as well as would set a precident in the animal welfare law for the entire state of Idaho which so desperately needs humane education.
On the other side of the coin, if she were to lose this case, she would, in effect, be "out of business" and powerless to help the animals in her area anymore, her credibility would be destroyed, which would be a REAL tragedy since Andi is the only voice the animals have have right now and she has done sooo much good in her area already, specifically targeting HUMANE EDUCATION and the need for harsher laws and stricter enforcement. Andi is single-handedly WAKING UP Jefferson Country to the cause of animal welfare. We simply MUST keep her put.
Please sign the petition then pick up the phone to call the Prosecutors Office & the Sheriffs Office to tell them to DROP THE CHARGES against HUMANE OFFICER ANDI ELLIOTT or the animal lovers of the world WILL NOT be pleased AT ALL with the state of affairs in Menan, Jefferson County, Id.

We have forwarded this petition to Sheriff Olsens Office already just to let him know how seriously the animal welfare / animal rights people of the world are taking this case, waiting for Sheriff Olsen to do the right thing and drop the phoney trumped-up charge against our beloved President of the Upper Valley Humane Society!! I hope that the Humane Society President wins this case. We need more people like her. A true friend of the animals.
Just because the owner of these horses is friends with the local sheriff, does not give this person protection under the law to allow these animals to starve. I think that Sheriff Olsen is manipulating the law to protect a friend who is obviously breaking the law. Since these animals are not receiving protection from local law enforcement officials, someone must act as the advocate for these voiceless creatures. And come election time, the citizens of Jefferson Co. need to seriously consider Sheriff Olsen's track record as a public offical and vote him out of office.
The animals out there need a warrior like her on their side! Why is Jefferson County treating her this way?? My GOD, enough is enough. Animals need our protection, and she was only doing what she, as a responsible employee, should do. How sad that she is in this predicament, and how sad for the animals as well. Please do not do this horrible act of injustice against her. Let her keep her job and continue to help animals who are in such dire need. On behalf of the animals. Melissa MacDonald

To the Sheriff's Deptartment and Prosecutor's Office: If animal abuse can hide behind the office of the law enforcement of this county, and an innocent woman who is trying to defend the abused animals can be prosecuted instead of the abuser, then we in Idaho have a great deal to fear when it comes to the law enforcement and justice system of Idaho. The sheriff should lose his job for not doing his job and arresting the man who committed the crimes of letting these horses starve to death, but instead is trying to prosecute Andi Elliott for trespassing. This is a dangerous miscarriage of justice for Idaho. This is a dangerous precedent for the law enforcement in Idaho to set and get away with. The people of Idaho should be very concerned!

Jefferson County, the eyes of the world are on you. Please force yourselves to do the right thing in this case.
This is disgusting treatment of someone who is trying to help alleviate the suffering of animals. Each and every one of us should do all possible to end cruelty to the helpless animals of the world. Andi Elliott, of the Humane Society of Upper Valley, is doing more than her share. She deserves help, NOT harassment, from the local authorities!

THEREFORE, UNTIL SUCH TIME FOUND COMPLIANT, PLAGUES OF SANCTIONS WITH HARDSHIPS AND DEVASTATION WILL SWIFTLY ENSUE THEM AND THEIRS.
