This petition is being written in hopes of getting the MAXIMUM prison term, which is 4 yrs. IF convicted of FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY. We are hoping for a felony conviction.

We realize that the conviction & the sentence COMES from the Court not a petition. But this case is very important to not only California but to all other states, where families have lost their pets/family members to abuse. Many people are watching this case very closely.

On May 1st., Glynn Johnson was "HELD TO ANSWER" for the beating death of KARLEY, a 6 month old German Shepard. The Judge felt there was sufficient evidence to name Johnson the primary suspect in the death of Karley. On May 15th, there will be an arraingment of Johnson.

For those of you that might not know the story of KARLEY, let me tell you a little about her.

Nov 3rd., 2008, Karley was beaten with a 12lb rock, her jaw was broken, she had swelling in her head & her skull had been crushed. All of this was done by Glynn Johnson, who at the time, was employed as an LA COUNTY ASST. FIRE CHIEF. Johnson has since retired from the Fire Dept.

On Nov. 3rd., Karley got out of her yard & was being returned to her home by a neighbor when Johnson stepped in & said that he would return Karley to her home. Instead of returning her, he started beating her with the rock. Johnson CLAIMED that Karley, for an unknown reason, ATTACKED him & started biting him. He claims he FEARED FOR HIS LIFE.

The original neighbor witnessed what was taking place & tried to stop Johnson's attack.

Karley's injuries were so intense that she had to be put down.

Glynn Johnson HAS to be held accountable for what he did. This wasn't a case of a vicious dog attacking an innocent person. Johnson ADMITTED that Karley had rolled over onto her BACK. Everyone knows that that's a sign of SUBMISSION.

With this petition, we are asking that Johnson not only be CONVICTED of the felony but that he also receive the maximum prison sentence which is 4 yrs.

We ALL must stick together to STOP any & all animal abuse as well as human abuse. Laws are in place for a reason. We HAVE to step in & put a stop to all abuse when we witness it. All you have to do is make a phone call. You don't have to step in & try to physically stop it BUT you do have to take the first step which is picking up your phone.

We HAVE to be the voice for those that have no voice. We have to be the voice behind that small child or that panicked & threatened spouse. We have to be the voice for those defenseless animals.

Dear Mr. Robinson...we, the undersigned, thank you for the hard work that you have done so far with this case. We know that the verdict will come from the jurors on this case. However, since we don't have a name for the Judge yet, this petition is being sent to you.

All we are asking for is that Glynn Johnson be held accountable for his actions...to be convicted of this horrendous crime & be convicted of FELONY ANIMAL CRUELTY.

Everyone will be watching this case very carefully. This kind of abuse takes place EVERY single day & it needs to stop. And this case is showing people that they, too, don't have to sit back & accept what happens to their precious fur baby. Our pets are NOT property...they really ARE a part of the family. This is horrifying, particularly because the murderer is a public figure and someone we are taught to look up to. There is no excuse for such behavior. Please throw the book at him.

It will never undo what was done, but enforcing stronger, stricter laws to the maximum extent will hopefully act as a deterrent in future.

Any animal cruelty is too much and too horrific. 4 years is a drop in the bucket for taking ANY life. People who abuse, who maim, who kill animals are on the road to abusing, maiming, and killing children and any vulnerable people. How long will it take before the law regards all life as sacred?

Unless we are willing to take a stand and put our thoughts to pen and ink, the law and the courts will never realize that there are people who consider the life of an animal as sacred and the law will never change. It is the squeaky wheel that gets the oil.

This man should have been fired as a public servant. His is a complete disgrace and should be given the maximum sentence and if they can increase the sentence they should. He is a frightening dangerous man.

Signing this petition is important to me because no one should be allowed to intentionally harm a pet or as in this case to completely mutilate it, and not be charged with a felony. This man is a monster and deserves much more than 4 years. I only wish action would have been taken against him immediately so that he was not able to retire with benefits. He is a disgrace to his department and I hope that he will never be able to show his face anywhere without people knowing what he did. My dog is a rescue. We could tell when we first got her that she had been hit in her previous home. If you made a sudden move with your arms or hand she would drop to the ground,cowering.This just saddens me so much to know she was put through any type of physical harm. I just read about this case on the Critters Memorial forum. This incident is horrific really. I cannot believe to top it off it was a man in a position of Fire Chief. A person the community is supposed to look up to or to look for for help and support. This man should serve maximum jail time. There is absolutley no reason he should not. This poor family has to endure this story over & over and now wait until January? Justice should be served. This man should not be allowed to be walking around free like nothing happened, it is an outrage truly. This poor defenseless animal had to take the brunt of this mans anger issues? I just lost my dog of 10 1/2 years to CHF. I had him on holistic medicine as well as the medicine from the Vet's.I gave him like 13 pills a day and stayed with him for 9 months through this. I would do anything for him or any other animal. Animals have unconditional love. I cannot fanthom how anyone could harm let alone kill an animal for no reason.

I would sign this petition no matter who it was that brutally killed her, but it wasn't just anybody. This man has chosen a job working for the people and should be a role model for all. He should be sentenced to the maximum prison term. Animal abuse is the same as child abuse in that their victim is so much weaker. A 6 month old puppy? A person who can hurt any living being can hurt a human being; are we going to give this man the opportunity to do that?
