Legalize and Tax Marijuana Already!

Target:
Obama Administration
Sponsored by:
"While 13 states permit the limited sale of marijuana for medical use, and polls show a steady increase in the number of Americans who favor legalization, federal law still bans the cultivation, sale, or possession of marijuana. In fact, the feds still classify marijuana as a Schedule I drug, one that has no "currently accepted medical use" in the United States."

It's way past time for the Federal government to step up to the plate and use COMMON SENSE.  We need to decriminalize marijuana, period.
1. Release all the prisoners who got caught with pot; America is broke and doesn't need to support these people AND the prisons are overcrowded.  Getting rid of these pot-smoking prisoners will lesson America's load.  Let THEM go work and pay taxes for a change!
2. Have the tobacco plants grow pot instead of tobacco.  They're all set to do just that and have been for years.  Make tobacco illegal.  It'll kill ya.
3. Pot has been used for medical purposes for hundreds of years.  Let's admit that it has that use and get on with the show.  Common sense in government can only be a good thing.
4. This will create more jobs, make happier Americans, get some legal cash flow going.  It's all good.

We, the undersigned, would like the Federal government to legalize marijuana.  We feel this would free up states to benefit from the thriving marijuana trade and have a steady, reliable flow of income, which most states desperately need right now.  We believe the Obama Administration can achieve what no other administration has.

It's way past time for the Federal government to step up to the plate and use COMMON SENSE.  We need to decriminalize marijuana, period, and get the money, honey! We respectfully ask the Obama Administration to arrange the following:
The field workers won't lose their jobs; they'll just switch crops.
3. Pot has been used for medical purposes for hundreds of years.  Let's admit that it has that use and get on with the show.  The Federal government has enough foreclosed land to grow it's own crops for medical use, making more green jobs, etc or the drug companies can do it.
4. This will create more green jobs, make happier Americans, and get some legal cash flow going.  It's all good!

I proposed to the Minister of Finance of Belgium some time ago! It was the idea to levy new taxes very interesting! As one French song: I want to plug the hole in Social Security with my joint! (Tryo: La main verte)

Alcohol & Tabacco are legal and taxed, high time we do it for Marijuana. I am proof that you can be a functioning adult and rise up the corporate ladder and still use Marijuana regularly without any side effects. Kristian Brandreth Director of Banquets, Aria kbrandreth@arialasvegas.com

Legalize marijuana and regulate it like we do alcohol and tobacco. For those worried about it's psychoactive effects, pass state laws similar to those governing public intoxication of alcohol, public drinking, and legal drinking ages. And for people worried about the health effects of smoking, pass laws concerning public smoking and the legal health insurance rates of smokers. Not all users of cannabis want to smoke it and not all people want to use it to get high.

I can grow my own and roll my own and ease my pain a lot cheaper with cannabis here in Texas... Why then should I have to pay outrageous prices for prescription drugs that I can't afford, and that will harm my body when there is a natural and cheaper solution available? I don't understand it. I've been smoking weed since I was 16 and now I'm 60, and I've never had a problem with it leading me to desire a stronger form of addictive drug, and as far as smoking weed and vegging out, well I for one have work hard all my life because I chose to do so instead of stoning out on the couch, and now that I'm disabled and can't work, and on a fixed income, I just can't afford the high price drugs that the pharmacies have to offer... THE REAL REASON MARIJUANA ISN'T LEAGALIZED IS BECAUSE OF THE MONEY THE GOVERNMENTS MAKE FROM IT IN BRIBES TO CONGRESSMEN, INCOME FROM SEIZURE OF PROPERTY. IT IS TOO PROFITABLE FOR LOCAL AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENTS. THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE MANY ILLNESSES IT CAN CONTROL.

Mr. President, stop the ruining of good American citizens lives with laws that criminalize them for the use of Marijuana. Marijuana should be an adults choice like cigarettes and alcohol. Marijuana is proven to be harmless compared to these two items that are legal. Classified as a type 1 controlled substance like heroin and LSD is just plain stupid. Americans are sick of politically motivated stupid laws that are worse than the weed itself. Take the money out of the criminals hands and put it to good use. JUST LEGALIZE MARIJUANA, ASAP !!! Our country will benefit much more from legalization than it does from the prohibition that has failed all of us...

The legalization of marijuana would have a huge impact on the economy of rural Kentucky. If treated and taxed like a cash crop such as tobacco, corn, beans and so on.

In my life, I fought my own personal war on drugs and I believe that I am a sucess story. I escaped the grips of addiction to all categories of drugs, and am now clean. I do not drink alcohol or smoke cigarrettes. The only thing I use is marijuana. It helps keep my diabetes in check, and provides me with good sleep and an unbelievable cure for my Restless Leg Syndrome, Insomnia, and Anxiety problems. Please, take into account peopel like me that dont drink or smoke cigarrettes and are trying to live a healthier life with a better quality of life. Thank you.

Thirty years of medical science has proven just how harmless...and beneficial...cannabis use actually is. Stop prosecuting Americans whom choose to use a non-toxic plant in the privacy of their own homes. This could mean big money in a time of economic crisis. Legalize and regulate cannabis...it's just common sense.

Marijuana is an herb that doesn't have to be smoked ... it does no real harm to your body if you don't smoke it ...

If we legalize marijuana, farmers can start growing hemp again...and save our soil and trees! Hemp can be used for food, cloth, fuel, paper, and many other things. It requires no chemical retting or pesticides.

The alleged "War on Drugs" is one of the absolute stupidest wastes of money that the federal government has foisted off on the American public. People that want drugs are going to get drugs, despite any laws passed to the contrary (can you say "Prohibition"? Ahh, I knew you could!).
