It is absolutly disgusting that there can even be a vote whether or not to give citizens of this country their civil rights.

I married my partner in our CHURCH last year. It is not fair that some states in the US allow same sex marriage, while others do not. There must be consistency among states with regards to persons individual rights. IT IS DISCRIMINATION TO NOT ALLOW GAY PEOPLE TO BE MARRIED. Our Constitution & country are supposed to protect us against discrimination as citizens. I am tired of hearing that it goes against GOD as a reason!! One of the first things I learned in government is that THERE IS A SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE in our country ... OBVIOUSLY, THAT IS NOT TRUE!!!!!! I AM ENTITLED TO MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS & MY CHURCH RECOGNIZES MY MARRIAGE, AND THEREFORE SO SHOULD THE STATE! I AM NOT A SECOND CLASS-CITIZEN ... even though I am treated like one by my government!

My husband and I are a happily married and just happen to be heterosexual. We've been together 25yrs. Yet in the case of same sex couples, there are those that are turned off by what's none of their business. Would any "normal" couple be scrutinized in every facet of their lives? No!!! I believe that any citizen of anytown U.S.A. are protected by the 14th Amendment, "equal protection of the laws". All of the U.S. citizens have the right "to the pursuit of happiness". I believe we should all focus on everyone's happiness and respect their pursuit of it. Any happy relationship is a great relationship. God Bless and keep you all.

I think that gay marriage is totally right. We have a free country so, in that case, I believe that people should be able to have the life they'd like to live without being stopped.

Mr. Strickland, I believe in equality for all people regardless of race, color, creed, religion or sexual orientation. I have family members who are Gay and not allowed to marry. They are treated as 'less than' people by the very state they live in. Discrimination exists only to dehumanize those who are different from the mass, but the reality is that what dehumanizes us one, dehumanizes us all. Please do what is right and make Ohio a state of equality for all of its people. Rebecca Blanton

I was married to a gay man for over 30 years. Had he felt that he could have the life and benefits straight people have, he may have been honest with himself and me and saved both of us a lot of heartache over the years. I urge you to legalize gay marriage in Ohio, so that gays and lesbians can enjoy marrying the person they love and have the family life we all need.

Please take a minute to read the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, and then try to realize that gays and lesbians constitute a suspect class and deserve the same protection and privileges that EVERY OTHER MINORITY GROUP ENJOYS!!!!

I do not understand why homosexuals cannot get married in this "land of the free". Critics say it will hurt "traditional marriage". How? I believe divorce and adultry hurts "traditional marriage". Please give them the same rights we all enjoy.

I believe that no one in Ohio (nor anywhere else for that matter) should be deprived of rights and privileges granted to one class while being denied to another. Which part of "equal rights" don't some people get? Do we really want to be governed based on fear, ignorance and intolerance? Is that the level that we've allowed ourselves to sink to? Take a stand and do the right thing.
