Moms Against Bratz

Moms against bratz

Target:
Convince MGA to change the style of the dolls
Sponsored by:
I really think it's time something was done about these dolls.they target girls as young as 3 and 4 and they look like, for lack of a better word, hookers.Parents have already tried to get them pulled from the shelves. Phoebe "Sugar" is dressed in a fluffy pink jacket with pink and black underwear, while Roxxi "Spice" has an open pleather jacket and skimpy red and black lingerie. Both dolls have milk bottles hanging off chains strapped to their legs.

In a world of predators and pedophiles and girls having babys at 13, this is not OK. I believe in free speech and I am pretty open minded but in my view there is no reason, ever, that children should be depicted with bottles and lingerie - as dolls or in life. .

No child-loving and self-respected parent would dare buy this disgrace called BRATZ. What's next? Thong-clad fetuses?

I am a single mom of a beautiful 5 y/o girl. She fell in love with the bratz dolls because when we went out she saw older gils dressed like them. When I was growing up my mother taught me that being sexy had nothing to do with how much skin you showed when you got dressed in the morning. She taught me that class always came first and with that I would gain admiriation and respect. I hesitate to take my daughter to the toy stores to pick something out pecause all I see are red panties and and stripper outfits.

Thank you for listening to your customers. I wish I could tell you how many moms I've met who refuse to buy these dolls because of their appearance...way too many! Thanks.

This kind of exposure should not be meant for baby girls. Kids are growing up to fast as it is, with things they see these days. Whatever happened to baby dolls. Where they could use their imagination.

Why no try to make a doll thats age apropriate, and not a doll that you feel like you have to pay after you play with them!

As mothers we have a hard enough time trying to raise half-way decent children. Your "dolls" do not help young girls with their self-image.
# 284:

These dolls are inappropriate for any age group, especially young children. We need positive images for our daughters, not dolls that represent someone from Jerry Springer or Maury Povich. Please change the image of these dolls, or just get rid of them period. Even the name of them is inappropriate. I am open minded as well and am very much for freedom of speech, but this is just setting our kids up for trouble.

These dolls are ugly and offensive and the message that it's okay to dress and behave in this manor is unacceptable to be sending to young girls.

I believe that these dolls send an extremely negative message to our daughters. They should be not be inundated with such shallow and sexually explicit images of women. Personally I find it shameful that young girls are represented as scantily clad & vapid. We owe our children a better start in life than that.

I think it is disgraceful the way the dolls look. Especially the Bratz Babys. I've never seen a baby dressed that way. I also don't like how the dolls are portrayed as being in nightclubs and with drinks that could be considered alcoholic. We will never buy these dolls or anything associated with them.

My daughters will never play with them, My daughter doesnt need a doll that teaches her to dress like a whore.....these dolls are sickening

I completely agree with this petition. Girls should be just that, girls and these dolls take away their innocence.

In their current dress, I am refusing to purchase these dolls for my daughter. Their clothes are was to "sexy" and this sends the wrong message to young girls.

Bratz look like little skanks....they are demeaning to women and should not be on the market let alone pushed in the faces of VERY young girls. Please revamp these vamps, or take them off the shelves until you can come up with something more childlike.....

I have 3 girls and over my dead body will I let them be bamboozled by these slutty dolls, you should really change them.

We don't need any more junk toys. The current Bratz dolls do not even interest my child. I find them repugnant and I refuse to purchase one. With some revamping, I might reconsider.

These dolls are a perfect example of simple corporate greed. It shows that the company owners have no ethics or morals to be able to produce a doll such as these and be able to sleep at night. I agree with all the comments here that these dolls set a very bad example for young girls and are in extremely poor taste. They should be banned from store shelves.

I think these dolls do nothing but show today's children how to be materialistic. Our children DO NOT need these types of role models!

I'm sorry, I'm not a mum, but i do agree with you that Bratz are a total disgrace, and definately not suitable for their 5 year old target audience, so much so i set up my own petition- www.thepetitionsite.com/petition/188762701 against Bratz. I think what you are doing is great and hopefully will show a lot of people the dangers of child sexualisation in the world today.

I find these dolls absolutely appalling. My daughter is young and all of her friends have these. What woman in there right mind would want their child playing with a doll that looks like an absolute streetwalker. It is scary that people continue to buy these. Children learn from what they are around and play with and they associate those things with being appropriate. I know as parents we are responsable for what our children have access to but it is pretty sad when you take your child to walmart to pick out a toy with their own money and half of the section looks like it came out of an adult store. I have worked in the toy industry myself, even designing girls dolls, and know that the only way these will ever get off the shelves is if people STOP BUYING THEM...they will be stocked until they don't produce money. A BOYCOTT is the only way to make a stand.

I made it clear to my 3 year old that we are not a fan of Bratz Dolls and will not purchase anything Bratz. When Grandma bought her a Bratz Doll shirt, I had to look like the "bad" daughter in law and let her know our thoughts on Bratz. It will always be more difficult to stick to what you belive in, the easy way out is to simply give in? What have you really taught then?

Shame on the people who manufacture this toy and the parents who support it. It's pure trash. The girls who are most attracted to this toy are 3,4 and 5. Protect the innocence of our baby girls

As a mother of two girls and one boy we have boycotted these toys since they have been out... They set unrealistic examples and horrible ideals on how girls should carry themselves and look... I don't want my girls thinking that this is something that should be how they portray themselves in slutty clothes and such... also I don't want this to be the "ideal" female my son will grow up to expect... We hate bratz dolls and any association with them... and even my six year old knows that "WE DON"T DO BRATZ" and she tells everyone... they are awful unwholesome toys that send the absolute wrong image to all children.

Bratz are a big factor in the over-sexulisarion of our children. It is a parents responsibility to guide there children through life but we cannot tie them down with a ball and chain, the community has to make an effort for its young people aswell. Please get rid of these disgusting dolls now!
