National Day of Compassion

There should be one day on every US calendar marked "Day of Compassion."  It's a day in which we recognize the power of compassion to conquer greed and are urged each and every one of us to perform one act of compassion to our fellow man, in which we give something to somebody else, we think about someone else instead of ourself.  We can give a gift of money or time, or forgive someone we held a grudge against, it can be an act of reaching out to your neighbor, or adopting a pet, or volunteering your time at a homeless shelter.  It can be anything you want as long as it is an act of compassion.
