Marc-Andre Laporte, 59, was found guilty of two counts of animal cruelty at the St. Jerome courthouse near Montreal, following the seizure of 97 fox terriers in November 2005 from his Blainville puppy mill.
Judge Jean Sirois rejected Laporte's argument that he loved his dogs too much. When police raided the property, they found dogs matted in feces feeding on dogs' carcasses and stronger dogs preying on weaker ones.

Almost 40 animals had to be euthanized. Laporte's home was later condemned and demolished in March 2006.
Laporte is only facing six months of jail time and up to $4,000 in fines.
On Feb. 22, 2008 he will be sentenced. At the same hearing, the judge is to decide if Laporte is to get any of his fox terriers back!

We, people who own and love fox terriers and other dogs, are outraged that a man found guilty of such horrendous cruelty and negect to dogs should be allowed to ever own a dog again! The surviving mill fox terriers took months to recover physically, medically and emotionally from their ordeal and have been living in caring foster families for over 2 years.
Send a message to the court that Laporte never be allowed to own a dog again and that the surviving fox terriers be left to continue their lives safely in the care of their foster families!
We hope to present this petition to Judge Sirois who is hearing the case. We are also collecting letters for the same purpose. Please mail your letters of protest to:

This person should be barred from ever owning any animals ever again.
Its inconceivable to me that such a revolting person would be allowed more animals!
How anyone could let any living creature live like that is beyond me. To be honest the human race embarasses and disgusts me.
People who abuse animals like this are dispicable! It is our job as humans to care for our environment and not abuse others.
Charlie is darling dog who has completely integrated into Melissa's household. He makes them happy, they make him happy. It's where he belongs.
people who care about animals wouldn't do such things to animals. These people only have a wallet for a heart. These people need to be stopped.
This dog arrived at Melissa'a as an emotional wreck, unable to relate to anyone or anything. He is now healthy , playful and responsive to anyone in the room. He has a life andinproves every day.

How can any man (no, not a man-just a male) consider this treatment as love??
this man is obviously not fit to look any animal and shouldn't be allowed to ever have a dog - neutered or not.

Mr. Laporte should never be allowed to have an animal again.
LaPorte obviously DOESN'T CARE about any animal or these dogs wouldn't have been found in such horrific condition. He should never be allowed to own another pet. 100 years in jail wouldn't be enough for this outrageous and inhumane treatment of living creatures.
He should never be allowed to have any kind of animal. How could he do that to the poor animals?
This man should be monitored carefully in the future to prevent any further cruelty.
LaPorte should be subjected to the same treatment he gave his dogs and not get off with a small fine; he should NEVER be allowed to own a dog in his lifetime!!!!!!

Plaese do not allow someone who abuses animals to have them!!
It is hard to believe that there are people out there who would do this to an animal. This "man" should not ever own animals, EVER! His sentence should be much longer and he should endure the same abuse these dogs endured at his hands.
