No oil drilling in the Arctic!

As the ice in the Arctic melts rapidly, Russia, USA, Norway, Denmark and Canada are now claiming the Arctic territory, for oil exploitation.  The exact amount of oil under the Arctic seabed and its locations can only been established by sending ships out to drill for it - an expensive and risky process. The Arctic is one of the earth's treasures, one of the last environmentally pristine places in the world and the natural habitat to rare species, such as Beluga whales, the Arctic fox and the Polar bear. An oil spill at this fragile environment or a nuclear accident at the floating nuclear power station, currently constructed by Russia to support the Arctic drilling, would have disastrous effects. We oppose any energy exploitation of the Arctic, as well as any drilling on its seabed. We strongly invite the UN and the leaders of the above countries to help protect the Arctic environment. We strongly encourage the governments of Russia, USA, Norway, Denmark and Canada to invest instead on renewable sources of energy, which would respect natural habitats and ecosystems.
