1) Have morning and evening hours where dogs could be off leash 2) Have a section of the park fenced off for the off leash dogs 3)Start a program where dog owners who want to have their dogs be off leash contribute a nominal amount that would go towards hiring a person to monitor the safety and cleanliness of the park during the hours that dogs are allowed off leash.

Everyone takes care of the park and cleans up after their dogs (with a few exceptions) and the dogs all get along. Any fights are broken up immediately. The dogs are all happy and are not bothering anyone. What is the problem. For that matter, why have they blocked off the parking area? Are they trying to run off dog owners so DeKalb County can sell the land to developers, much like they did to set a precedent with Brookwood park?

gandhi said "the morality of a society will be judged by how it's animals are treated." 300 dollar fines for owners trying to play with their dogs, is both excessive and a waste of county resources.

The fines the police are pushing on these people and their dogs is an outrage. Nancy's little dog Rooney was viciously attacked by 3 large dogs there and no one gave a damn. He is now recovering nicely, but, I want to know where were the police when this happened and the owner just walked away. but they are right on top of people to give out a fine?

$300 dollar tickets are rediculous when Fulton County is .35. Something is seriously wrong here.

Where I live we have so many dog parks, isn't about time your area wakes up to give these poor dogs some place to play..join the human or should I say dog race!

We need a place to take our dogs! Every responsible dog owner knows the importance of socialization of dogs. Ticketing with extreme fines, because a dog is off leash. but under voice command from his owner, is excessive and a waste of our park enforcement! We have drug dealers, and car thieves unscathed, because law enforcement is so concerned with dogs playing off leash. Let's get our priorities in order, Dekalb County!

As a dog owner of 4 rescues, I know the importance of socialization and "playtime" for our pets. Osborne/brookhaven is a lovely facility where one can throw a frisbee, talk to other dogowners, and just allow their dogs to be be dogs! Because of the fear of being ticketed @ this unofficial park, I took my 4 to a "legal offleash park"(only 2 in the county),last week. My smallest and most vulnerable 15 lb. terrier was attacked by 3 large dogs. This happened because of the small congested area, and an irresponsible owner. Too many dogs, and too little room made my dog a victim! Responsible dog owners need the county of Dekalb to understand we need the osborne park, and are willing to both pay a fee and monitor for safety and cleanliness. This park had a proposed area, several years ago, fenced off for dog use; unfortunately that never came to pass. A presence of dogs and their owners also, helps eliminate the criminal element(car break ins are common.)many thugs will think twice when several dogs are chasing a frisbee or tennis ball on the field. We need a place to safely exercise our four legged friends, and we need it now!
