Pitbulls are dogs, not killers

Pitbulls are dogs, not killers

Target:
To get the population to realize how great this breed is

Pit Bulls are known by most as brutal killing machines. This belief is widely caused by the  media's twisted reports on attacks. In fact, most attacks reported on the news that claim to be Pit Bull attacks, aren't even truelly full bred Pitbulls, or they aren't even Pitbulls at all. As a long time owner of Pitbulls, I can personally tell you, they are the best breed of dog I've ever owned, and ever will own.
In the past, they were bred to fight other dogs yes, so if you don't socialize them with other animals, there could be a chance of slight agression, but NEVER an agression to humans. True Pitbull attacks are only out there because of the cruel and selfish people out there who train the dogs too hard to fight.

Pitbulls are one of the most abused breed out there.
-"Pit bull doused in lighter fluid, set on fire
Philadelphia, PA (US)"
-"A Lake Carmel man is accused of throwing his girlfriend's 4-month-old pit bull into a car, punching the dog six times, then slamming it on the pavement five more times, breaking the puppy's jaw, police said today."
-"pleaded no contest last week after being cited for cropping his 8-month-old Pit Bulls ears with household scissors."
(from www.pet-abuse.com)

In the American Temperment Test Society, Pitbulls had  84.3% pass the temperent test. Higher than the Yorkshire terrior (82.1), Greyhounds (81.0), and slightly more than the Golden Retriever (84.2)

These dogs get a bad reputation, but are in fact..great and loyal dogs. Pass this along if you agree.

We the undersigned, agree that Pitbulls have been under great hardships caused by society's twisted beliefs about the breed. Pit Bulls are dogs, not killers. Those who choose to fight these dogs are responsible for the bad rep, not the dogs themselves. Please stop the one-sided reports on Pitbulls. Blame the owners..not the dogs themselves.

These dogs can be as loving and loyal as any other dog. However, some people do not have the knowledge and skills to handle and train pitbulls and some even train them to become agressive and dangerous. Some people shouldn't be allowed to own pitbulls, but the dogs are lovely creatures and should not be banned..

Pitbulls should't be banned just because of their breed.

I am the proud owner of a full blood pit bull and I have never had any problems with him. It is the jerks that give pit bulls a bad name and it could happen with any breed

I agree 100%. These poor dogs are so horribly misjudged, and too often abused. As a proud owner of a beautiful Pit Bull, I can honestly say she is the best dog I have ever had. She is very loving and sweet and would never hurt a soul. I hope one day, the world will accept this lovely breed for the wonderful creatures they truly are.

It is a person who hold the leash, and at the other end of the leash is a loyal companion who will do anything for love and attention. It isnt just pitbulls you could have a lab kill if it was in the same situation, just so happens that pits got the "bad name"

I totally agree with this. I adopted my pit bull not too long ago, but I've always known that pit bulls were not this vicious breed that the media and other people claim they are to be. I have known people to own them and I personally saw that they were not vicious dogs. I wish the media wouldn't bash on pits so hard. It's not the breed's fault! It's the bad owners! Ban stupid people, not the breed. Punish the deed, not the breed!

It is all up to the owner how the dog turns out. This is true for any breed. Its so sad that the action of a few bad seeds determines how the rest of the breed is treated. My pit mix is such a sweet boy I could never imagine him hurting anyone. I went to the pound to try to adopt a pit puppy and was unable to. In the county I live in the requirements are unmeetable for most. You must have a 6 foot high fence, a single family home, no children under 13, no other animals in your house, and more. It does not help the dogs to have such restrictions. Somethings gotta change. These are great dogs with the right owner and they don't deserve such hate.

BSL - is a problem as well for bully breeds and Rottweilers, you cannot lump all dogs in the same basket...last time I checked any dog who is abused, neglected or beaten can become a hazard to society. So please stop labeling all dogs as "killers". There are a lot of people who should not have pets or kids and they are not penalized enough for their actions.

Pitties are great dogs. It is not the dogs fault they are not socialised or trained by their owners. My girl loves people and never meets a stranger. she was well socialised with people. she also loves cats and sleeps with one.
