PLEASE PASS Chloe's Bill HB 198/S.B. 53 in IL, legislation to crack down on puppy mills

  • by: dogluva
  • recipient: State senator Dan Duffy & State representative Ed Sullivan
Puppy mills are breeding facilities that mass-produce puppies for sale in pet stores, over the Internet, and directly to the public. Dogs are stacked in filthy wire cages, often with no veterinary care or human interaction, and they are treated not like pets but like a cash crop. Mother dogs are constantly bred and kept in continuous confinement. They are destroyed or discarded when they can no longer churn out puppies.

Fortunately, legislation (H.B. 198/S.B. 53) has been introduced in Illinois to limit the number of dogs in these facilities and put in place some basic animal welfare standards.

It is critical that your state senator, Dan Duffy, and state representative, Ed Sullivan, hear from constituents who support this legislation.

Thank you for all you do for animals.
Dear Chairmen

Puppy mills cram dogs into small cages without adequate shelter and care. It is time Illinois takes on this industry and tells them that we will not stand for treating man's best friend like this.

Puppy mills churn out thousands of puppies. The real victims are the breeding adults who are forced to live their entire lives in a cage. They often never feel grass under their feet and live for years suffering.

Cracking down on puppy mills will also help to eliminate the millions of animals that are euthanized every year. Please have a heart and pass this very important bill as you are the one with the power and you need to speak out for we the people who care.

Thank you.
