Boost our Economy, Promote National Security, Protect Creation

The climate crisis is one of the greatest moral challenges of our time.  Our current reliance on unsustainable sources of energy is ravaging God's creation, slowing our economy, and threatening our national security.  We can solve all of these problems, but we must act now.  Investing in renewable energy will create good jobs at home when our economy desperately needs them, reduce the $250 BILLION Americans send overseas each year to buy oil from hostile countries, and help fulfill our obligation to be good stewards of God's creation.

Right now Congress is debating legislation to address the climate crisis and meet America's energy needs.  Our country and our planet can no longer abide half measures or temporary solutions.  Join your voice to the growing chorus of people demanding that Congress act now to invest in new renewable and domestic solutions to meet our energy needs.

We the undersigned request that you take immediate action to pass legislation that will make a serious investment in America's future by moving the country toward renewable energy.  America is facing unprecedented challenges to our economic, national, and environmental security.  We require bold measures to solve these crises. 

The renewable energy section of the stimulus bill is a good first step, and we strongly encourage your support of that section of the bill.  But we will also need a larger and more long-term initiative to achieve true energy independence as a country.

Investing in renewable energy will boost our economy by creating millions of green collar jobs that cannot be shipped overseas.  Furthermore, energy independence that comes from renewables would allow us to stop paying countries known to support terrorists hundreds of billions of dollars each year for their oil.  Finally, we must break our dependency on non-renewable fuels in order to fulfill our moral responsibility to be good stewards of God%u2019s creation and protect the least of these in America and abroad, who are suffering the most from natural disasters, disease, and food and water scarcity as a result of climate change. 

As serious as each of these crises are, they share a common solution - renewable energy.  The time for talk and half-measures is over.  We urge you to take aggressive action now.
