Request the Canyon Lake City Council not vote to issue conditional use permit 08-012 CPU

Target:
Residents of Canyon Lake

I request that a public hearing be scheduled so I can voice my opinion about the unneeded and unwanted grading/mining and development of Goat Hill. I also request that the Canyon Lake City Council does not vote to issue the developer a mass grading/mining permit and that the developers restore Goat Hill back to its natural condition.  I sign this petition willingly and I am concerned for the welfare of the community.

Canyon Lake is a small gated city approximately 70 miles from San Diego, 70 miles from Los Angeles and 70 miles from Palm Springs. Many of our license plate holders note our community as "a bit of paradise". Our town has a skiing lake (very unus

This proposal of mining granite from goat hill is horrible for prospective buyers looking to establish themselves in the area. Why goat hill? Profit from the granite mining over what's best for the community?

How can we trust these developers when they don't do things in an open and lawful manner. They started grading with no permits, approved plans or environmental impact report. They were stopped in their tracks, literally, by the police department after complaints by residents and only then did they start playing by the rules. Although, this may still be in question. It appears that they are trying come in the back door while the community sleeps. What other incorporated community has a quarry within the community. The quality of life here will never be the same if this fiasco is allowed to continue. The city motto "A Bit of Paradise" will have to be changed to " A Pit that used to be Paradise"

Canyon Lake is named after it's surrounding beauty. How by mining Goat Hill is this to preserve the beauty of why we all have chosen to live here. From the enviromental side, how can the community be forced to deal with the noise and dirt for the 3 years the project is due to last. The real battle is the underhanded way this is being pushed onto the resisidents. My hopes are that this will be resolved this year with our careful choices in city counsel and Mayor elections.

My husband & I moved here 5 years ago. One of the many reasons we chose this community to reside is the fact that we fell in love with the beauty and the views from our patio. One of those views is Goat Hill. My son loves to hike up Goat Hill. A couple of years ago he put an American Flag at the top. To destroy Goat Hill, this beautiful landmark would be a shame. We already have enough houses, commercial bldgs., etc. We don't need anymore. Let us enjoy nature with the beautiful view we overlook. Please don't take that away!

It is very important that every Canyon Lake Resident is aware of the catastrophic environmental effects that the mining/grading of Goetz Hill will have on our entire community. What will the effect of the blasts be on the damn? We must try to protect the evironment everywhere as much a possible.

For all intents and purposes, this project is simply a mining operation. I feel that the negative impact of the grading project both personally and to the entire community far exceeds any financial benefit we MAY see in the next 5 to 10 years. Don't destroy the natural surroundings of Canyon lake

For all intents and purposes, this project is simply a mining operation. No other development plans are available. The mining operation could conceivable continue for six or more years, exposing Canyon Lake citizens to years of health hazards, traffic hazards, various severe pollution issues, and provide no meaningful benefit. The plans are simply for a mining operation...no more and no less...just a disgusting mine that is pathetically to be located within a residential and recreational area!
