Romania - horses beaten before eyes of veterinarian authorities

 
Even though under the Romanian law the animal cruelty is considered an offence, acts of animal cruelty continue to happen even before the eyes of authorities that paradoxically are in charge of enforcing the  animal protection law.
 
The shocking footage broadcasted by the Romanian TV station Realitatea, on August 3rd 2008, shows horses bestially beaten in the animal market Godinesti - Gorj - before the very eyes of veterinarians of the local veterinarian authority - DSVSA Gorj.

Romania's attitude towards animals is already known, though the EU states expected that improving the animal welfare legislation would result in improving the animal welfare.
The authorities in charge of checking that the requirements of the present law are observed not only lack any reaction but even attend, permit and approve the instances of cruelty on animals.
How is this possible?
 
We urge you to take the necessary steps in the shortest possible time to punish the perpetrators of animal cruelty and the responsible persons within DSVSA Gorj.
We urge you to take all necessary steps in order to check and monitor the animal markets of Romania.
 
We'll also inform the EU institutions on the constant disinterest of the central veterinarian authority, ANSVSA ( Romanian National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority) in  animal welfare, in animal cruelty crimes. 

   

Protest impotriva cruzimii fata de caii din Romania

Desi Romania beneficiaza de o lege de protectie a animalelor, prin care cruzimile asupra animalelor sunt considerate infractiuni, aceste acte continua sa se intampla chiar sub ochii autoritatilor care, paradoxal, au in atributiuni controlul respectarii acesteia.

Suntem socati de imaginile care au fost difuzate la postul roman de televiziune, Realitatea TV, in data de 03 august 2008, prezentate si pe internet,

in care caii sunt batuti cu bestialitate in targul de la Godinesti, Gorj, "chiar sub ochii medicilor de la Directia Sanitar Veterinara Gorj" - asa cum se declara.

Atitudinea Romaniei vizavi de animale este deja cunoscuta, insa tarile membre UE au crezut ca imbunatatirea legislatiei va imbunatati si viata acestora. Cu toate acestea, autoritatile competente in a veghea la respectarea ei, ANSVSA nu numai ca nu iau atitudine, dar tolereaza si aproba faptuirea de atrocitati. Cum este posibil?

Va somam ca in cel mai scurt timp sa luati masurile care se impun pentru sanctionarea faptasilor precum si a persoanelor responsabile din cadrul DSVSA Gorj.

Va somam sa luati toate masurile de control in targurile de animale din Romania.

Mentionam ca vom informa forurile UE referitoare la dezinteresul continuu pe care il manifesta institutia ANSVSA fata de bunastarea animalelor.
