Relief arrives for 101 dogs living in squalid conditions. One of the most horrific cases of neglect and animal cruelty was witnessed by the RSPCA and police who raided Waterford Boarding Kennels and Cattery, South of Brisbane on January 2008.

SAVE OUR ANIMALS! BAN PUPPY MILLS IN AUSTRALIA

Target:
The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
Sponsored by:

I am from the state of Victoria and briefly saw the news a year ago where 101 poodles and other dogs had been neglected. My heart aches for the dogs and I am still wondering how they are progressing since being in the great care of the RSPCA?  It deeply saddens me that those poor dogs have been mistreated. All of the dogs were in poor condition, with matted fur clotted with urine and faeces, ear infections, and some infested with maggots. From this occurrence, I am so against puppy farming or back yard breeding as you could call it, which is not monitored strictly by local and animal health authorities.

Sadly purebred puppies or x breeds are produced in massive numbers.  Unfortunately the dogs live in conditions that are inhumane, lacking in quality food and shelter, little veterinary care, overcrowded cages and little freedom to roam and be loved by humans. The puppies are then sold directly either to pet shops, via the Internet or newspaper ads within Australia. Now is the time to fight against inhumane puppy mills.

It has also come to my attention that certain advertising websites have listed the so called business that the RSPCA raided recently and rescued 101 dogs.  This saddens me to the point that I have even contacted them and only one so far has responded and is prepared to do something about removing the listing. All Aussie businesses should ban such a person to advertise on their website.

More devastating, I came across yahoo 7 members room and was totally horrified what I read. Sadly one member commented that unfortunately they had to put their German Sheppard down because they had temporally placed their dog in the care of a Boarding Kennel ( which legally I cannot name), whilst in the process of moving to WA. My wish is for authorities to look into the matter further and stop puppy farming of poorer quality.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Save our animals from imprisonment and cruelty and allow them the opportunity to live a wonderful life.

So please join in the fight to ban puppy mills by signing my petition today!

We the undersigned,
request that you ban all puppy farming of poor quality in Australia. It is also our wish that procedures and practices are implemented to strictly monitor all breeders, groomers, kennels and catteries in Australia by the appropriate authorities.

Unfortunately the recent raids by the RSPCA and police in QLD where 101 dogs were seized, is a very sad and devesting example of inhumane, unregistered breeders and boarding kennels. All of the dogs were in poor condition, with matted fur clotted with urine and faeces, ear infections, and some infested with maggots.

Is this what Australia should be seen as?  We are those poor animals voices.  Our furry friends did not asked to live in conditions that are inhumane, lacking in quality food and shelter, little veterinary care, over crowded cages and little freedom to roam and be loved by humans. The puppies did not ask to be sold directly either to pet shops, via the Internet or newspaper ads within Australia and overseas. All animals have a right be loved and have space to roam.

NOW IS THE TIME!

Please ban all puppy farming or back yard breeding as you could call it, which is not monitored strictly by local and animal health authorities.

Save our animals from imprisonment and inhumane cruelty and allow them the opportunity to live a wonderful life. You can make a difference.

Animals should not be exposed to such horrible treatment, this definitely should be stopped.

The fact that people feel the neccessity to over breed and miss use an animal that wants nothing but to please and be loved and all they are is an increase in bank ballance for some greedy people who deserve jail. If they treated children like that it'd be a social uproar.

Please consider passing legislation to ban puppy mills and the sale of puppies in pet shops throughout Australia.

Why not give an abandoned/given up dog a new home instead of buying a new dog?

I, along with most of the international community, are shocked at the way Australia has treated Man's Best Friend. We believe that this reflects very poorly on the Government and the people.

“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man" -- Mahatma Gandhi (1869 - 1948)

There are enough unwanted dogs in the world without breeding more.

The mothers are just machines churning out litter after litter! Also whilst you are at it please also ban the sale of animals in pet shops! Start to behave like a 1st world nation, & stop the suffering of these mum's who are perminently pregnant!

Also whilst you are at it please also ban the sale of animals in pet shops!

Humans involved in Puppy Farming should hang their heads in shame!! This is a most barbaric and cruel industry where helpless animals suffer unnecessarily.

Everyone should stop buying puppys from Pet Shops they support this awful abuse of dogs. We have a pet shop by us Pets At Home they have joined forces with Lort Smith and now only adopy out cats and dogs that are unwanted - this is the way forward - please lets work together and make Australia a better place for animals.

Puppy mills or farms are cruety to and abuse of animals. Which I believe is against the law, and an insult to the so called higher intelligence of humans. Why are these businesses being allowed to proceed and profit?
