Relief arrives for 101 dogs living in squalid conditions. One of the most horrific cases of neglect and animal cruelty was witnessed by the RSPCA and police who raided Waterford Boarding Kennels and Cattery, South of Brisbane on January 2008.

SAVE OUR ANIMALS! BAN PUPPY MILLS IN AUSTRALIA

Target:
The Prime Minister Kevin Rudd
Sponsored by:

I am from the state of Victoria and briefly saw the news a few weeks ago about those poor 101 poodles and other dogs that have been neglected. My heart aches for the dogs and I am still wondering how they are progressing since being in the great care of the RSPCA?  It deeply saddens me that those poor dogs have been mistreated. All of the dogs were in poor condition, with matted fur clotted with urine and faeces, ear infections, and some infested with maggots. From this occurrence, I am so against puppy farming or back yard breeding as you could call it, which is not monitored strictly by local and animal health authorities.

Sadly purebred puppies or x breeds are produced in massive numbers.  Unfortunately the dogs live in conditions that are inhumane, lacking in quality food and shelter, little veterinary care, overcrowded cages and little freedom to roam and be loved by humans. The puppies are then sold directly either to pet shops, via the Internet or newspaper ads within Australia. Now is the time to fight against inhumane puppy mills.

It has also come to my attention that certain advertising websites have listed the so called business that the RSPCA raided recently and rescued 101 dogs.  This saddens me to the point that I have even contacted them and only one so far has responded and is prepared to do something about removing the listing. All Aussie businesses should ban such a person to advertise on their website.

More devastating, I came across yahoo 7 members room and was totally horrified what I read. Sadly one member commented that unfortunately they had to put their German Sheppard down because they had temporally placed their dog in the care of a Boarding Kennel ( which legally I cannot name), whilst in the process of moving to WA. My wish is for authorities to look into the matter further and stop puppy farming of poorer quality.

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Save our animals from imprisonment and cruelty and allow them the opportunity to live a wonderful life.

So please join in the fight to ban puppy mills by signing my petition today!

We the undersigned,
request that you ban all puppy farming of poor quality in Australia. It is also our wish that procedures and practices are implemented to strictly monitor all breeders, groomers, kennels and catteries in Australia by the appropriate authorities.

Unfortunately the recent raids by the RSPCA and police in QLD where 101 dogs were seized, is a very sad and devesting example of inhumane, unregistered breeders and boarding kennels. All of the dogs were in poor condition, with matted fur clotted with urine and faeces, ear infections, and some infested with maggots.

Is this what Australia should be seen as?  We are those poor animals voices.  Our furry friends did not asked to live in conditions that are inhumane, lacking in quality food and shelter, little veterinary care, overcrowded cages and little freedom to roam and be loved by humans. The puppies did not ask to be sold directly either to pet shops, via the Internet or newspaper ads within Australia and overseas. All animals have a right be loved and have space to roam.

NOW IS THE TIME!

Please ban all puppy farming or back yard breeding as you could call it, which is not monitored strictly by local and animal health authorities.

Save our animals from imprisonment and inhumane cruelty and allow them the opportunity to live a wonderful life. You can make a difference.

Working for a small animal welfare organisation, I am faced daily with the reality of companion animal abuse and neglect. There are so many homeless animals in Sydney, roaming the streets and breeding. Despite valiant efforts of volunteers to trap, neuter and re-home or return, the numbers often increase. One of the chief reasons for the prolific number of homeless animals is unscrupulous breeders and pet shops who act irresponsibly by not ensuring the companion animal is de-sexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated before the poor creature is sold. Many of these breeders' and shops' only concern is profit; not the animals' welfare or their responsibility to society in general by reducing the number of abandoned, entire animals. Please, reconsider adopting a pound or rescued companion animal. Don't breed or buy while homeless animals die!

MY MUM RECENTLY TOLD ME ABOUT PUPPY MILLS AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS COULD BE LEGAL. I HOPE THAT THIS PETITION WILL GET THE ATTENTION OF MANY PEOPLE SO IT CAN BE STOPPED!!

This is extremely disturbing. No wonder people have no problem abusing and neglecting and torturing these precious animals because its openly acceptable to run a puppy mill. The Australian government should be ashamed for not stopping it, and not only that pet shops should be forced to shut down if they buy from these horrific places

since finding out this happens in a great country like australia it has distressed me so much that we as a great nation could stoop so low allowing this to continue

we are not a third world country and it is our constitution to aide and assist all in need yet we accept this as humane

by what right do we allow the people we ellect to represent us yet keep us in the dark by not admitting this is happening in our own back yards

I am a firm believer that animals deserve the best in this world, instead many are homeless, neglected, abused, unloved. For me, this is just a beginning of changing their lives, LETS BAN PUPPY MILLS EVERYWHERE!!!!

Stop the cruelty to these animals, NOW. Puppy Mills should be banned world wide. It is sickening and very sad how anyone can be so cruel and hartless.

Animals feel and suffer as humans do. Too many people do not treasure "life".

I have just finished watching an episode of Oprah which brought me to tears. Dogs in America, by the millions, are being euthanize each year while puppies are being bread in incomprehensible conditions. These dogs live and bred in cages, barely able to turn around and once they are no longer able to reproduce they are shot. I thought to myself... this couldn't possibly be happening in Australia but I checked and it is! Somehow we must stop this now!

The people who operate puppy mills have absolutely no heart or soul. They lack the ability to care or love anything and anyone. Please stop this inhumane, cruel practice and please pass rigid laws to punish those who operate such mills and who treat animals so horribly.

it is crewl and makes puppies and dogs suffer. each animal diserves a fair share of love and care and if anyone is willing to breed puppies/animals then the least they could do is breed them properly and care for them.

Not only is the suffering of these animals a deep concern, but puppy farms are also greatly to blame for the overpopulation of dogs and cats as none of the animals from these "farms" is sterilised. What comes cheaply is often treated badly!

I feel extreme anger and contempt for persons who capitalize and profit from the abuse of animals in this fashion. anyone stepping back from ths issue and being uwilling to find out how to assist these animals in some way is also guilty of complicity, by default.

Please find ways to enable more of us in the public to make a stand for these animals. to be able o name and shame the people running these atrocities. thank you!

My class has to do a speech on something we are passionate about, and as i am very passionate about animals i was disgraced to see what horrid conditions these poor dogs have to live in. They have a life of their own that is of importance to them, just like we do. I may only be 15 years old but i feel the need to spread the word about these disgusting puppy mills.

needs to be stopped worldwide.

If animals had any chance of standing up for themselves there would be alot less humans in the world. Take a look around parlimentarians and start doing something about this mess, because your behind it.

Puppy mills should be banned every where. No animal should deserve to be treated that way. As a person who is anti-cruelty to animals, I'm appalled this kind of thing is still happening.Espescially in my own country;at this point in time I'm not proud to call my self an Australian.
