Save Thomas Arthur from Execution 12-06-2007. Demand DNA testing that will prove conclusively prove his innocence!! Sign our petition to Alabama governor Riley to demand this man be allowed DNA testing and ALL evidnce be shown at a new trial!! ACT NOW BEF

Save Thomas D. Arthur From Execution !!!

Target:
Everyone who is interested is saving an innocent person from execution

We the undersigned are fighting for Thomas Arthur to be allowed DNA testing that could conclusively prove his innocence.  We are asking that Alabama Governor Riley order  DNA testing of evidence that includes blood, hair and semon was recovered and still exists, but it has never been tested!!!  DNA testing of the evidence evidence can conclusively prove Thomas Arthur is innocent and was never at the crime scene, as he has proclaimed for 25 years. Yet the State of Alabama not only REFUSES to DNA test the crime scene evidence--but it is refusing to allow Arthur to have the evidence DNA tested at HIS EXPENSE!!!  Is the State of Alabama refusing because they know Thomas Arthur is innocent--then it is not seeking to execute him---but to LEGALLY murder him.  We are asking that Governor Riley allow Thomas Arthur a new trial so that he may present ALL of the evidence that can prove his innocence.   There are two eye witnesses placing Arthur 75 miles away when crime was committed. The DNA evidence will prove if the two women found at the crime scene fired the weapon that shot the victim. It can prove Arthur did not have sex with Judy Wicker prior to the murder, it can prove blooded shirts might have another persons blood on it. The semen can be put in an FBI data base to se if another person could have committd this crime.  No physical evidence links this man to the crime!!!  20 years on Death Row is a crime, but to be executed for a crime you are innocent of is something you will have on your conscience for ever Governor....Governor Riley, hear our voices , we demand the crime scene evidence be DNA tsted, and that you immediately order an investigation into this case by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.    You can go to http://www.thomasarthurfightforlife.com/  and see the circumstantial evidence and the DNA evidence from the court records. You decide which proves absolute innocence or guilt.

How can you put a persons life on the line without having 100% DNA backed proof?

Nobody has the right to take away the life of another person, guilty or not guilty. Capital punishment is just as unacceptable as any crime

DNA testing MUST always be done!

Capitol Punishment is not the answer!

I think there should be mandatory testing of DNA. The thought of putting a person to death without being 100% positive that they committed the crime, is appalling, if there is any way at all to prove some ones innocents it should be done.

I do not believe in capital punishment, there is all ways the chance an innocent person will be executed and we can't take that chance.

DNA testing is the most vital part of a trial and should under no condition be denied to be vital evidence in a case

Capital Punishment is wrong. No one knows for certain if they have the right person. It is also cruel to anyone

When DNA evidence exists, it must be tested. In the USA over 160 people who have been convicted of serious crimes and locked away in prison have been released and found innocent. Innocent people must not be punished.

Capital Punishment must be eradicated in the USA and around the world.

I think it should be a requirement, afterall, what is lost? It can either prove innocence or add proof to guilt. Either way, no one is losing anything in a DNA test.

Abolish it. Too many innocents to make it a sound punishment.

Any decent person should surely agree to all means to try and establish whether a man is truly guilty before execution and when such an obvious method as DNA is available why it is not being checked is beyond belief. I hope the authorities do the decent thing and have this test carried out.

Mandatory DNA testing is the only way to go, unless it would prove someone's guilt erroneously.

I am passionately against it, no exceptions!

i think dna testing should be used to determine a mans innocense or his guilt, in this case it should be used because i believe mr. arthur is innocent.

i dont think we should use capital punishment anymore, we do not live in the dark ages, this is the 21st century for goodness sake.

Mandatory DNA testing is more than necessary and it is only fair to represent this in EVERY case. In this case, it is obvious that the convicted person is not guilty. HE is willing to pay for DNA testing and what reason would he have to do this if he were guilty? The governor, Mr. Riley should more than willingly accept the necessary potential for the DNA testing for this man. If it is a political on-set for "bad publicity" too bad, it's worse to know you let an innocent man die than to hold a political office. What do you think Mr. Riley?

Capital Punishment is murder. It is immoral and hypocritical. There is no need for it and should not be used in ANY situation.

Mandatory DNA testing is a must!!!! That will prove wether a person is innocent or guilty BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT!

I agree with capital punishment... No one has the right to take the life of another.

Why can't the evidence be tested? Especially at his own expense! You would think a state would do everything in it's power to make sure no innocent person is executed. New evidence came up, so test it. Whats the problem here?

I don't believe anyone should be killed for something they aren't even sure he did. Plenty of innocent people get sentenced to prison. Where will it stop?

I simply cannot understand why the DNA testing of the evidence collected at the crime scene would be denied. Please expedite this testing to provide an irrefutable answer to the questions in this case.

If this man did murder, then he is entitled to die for the crime. Should he be innocent then the conclusion is obvious. "As you have done to the least of these..."

People like us voted you in office, Riley. Get off your ass and do the right thing. It's actions like this why people are moving out of Alabama. I may even do the same. This is why Alabama is 50 years behind most other states. Atlanta's looking mighty good, and Sonny Purdue doesn't seem to be unfair like your administation. Prove us wrong.--SFC Ricky Rousell-US Army May God have mercy on your murdering soul, Gov. Riley. Just because you don't insert the needle, doesn't mean innocent blood won't be on your hands.

I believe capital punishment is warranted, but too many innocent people are dying because of idiot politics and corruption.

I think each and every person has a right to a fair trail and due process, this would INCLUDE DNA testing. I have a hard time understanding why a governor would not allow such testing unless he has some personal agenda. If this could prove a convicted man innocent, where is the justice in allowing this man to be excuted and then preforming the testing only to find he is innocent.

I'll be honest, I'm half & half on this one. If there is UNDENIABLE, IRREFUTABLE evidence that the person committed the terrible crime, and that ALL methods of proving their innocence have failed, and they are COMPLETELY guilty, then yes, I agree with the death penalty. BUT if there is any irregularities, or unresolved issues, and not each and every stone possibly has been turned, then no, in Canada the last 2 people excuted were proven innocent after their deathes. And since DNA testing became available and a proven science, there has been countless convictions overturned, and innocent people walked free, but had their original convictions been followed through, and the death penalty enforced, How many innocent people would have been put to death.

I think it should be available to every one accused of a crime. It will prove their innocence or guilt.

In certain cases I support it. However it should only be used when a person is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt with the evidence to prove it.

# 1,119:
3:44 pm PDT, Apr 19, Tina Columbo, Michigan
I believe that if there is dna to test it should indeed be used in court for testing to prove weather or not someone has a chance at a fair trial. If the DNA testing is done and it does not match the person that is on death row, that person should be free to go immedeiately pending the results. Don't put someone that is totally innocent on death row with out going over every little peice of evidence possible.

I believe that capitol punishment should be given only to people that have commited the crimes, not to the people that haven't even had the chance to prove their innocence. It's just crazy!

If the DNA is there, it should be tested. Why would you not want to test something that will show the truth?!

I honestly believe that no one is powerful enough to determine whether someone should live or die, except GOD.

Its not a matter of mandatory testing, its a matter of giving suspects rights to any evidence that may prove their innocence.

Thats enough. 25 years on death row is a crime in itself!

DNA testing is a proven science. It can prove, beyond ANY shadow of a doubt, that Thomas Arthur is innocent. If you refuse to permit the testing, and to allow the results to influence Thomas Arthur's fate, you personally will have the blood of an innocent man on your hands if you permit his execution. You may want to consider how you will explain that on YOUR judgement day.

I am not opposed to the death penalty if the case is proven, and not based on circumstantial evidence regardless how compelling it may be.

Mandatory DNA testing is the least a state can do to ensure they are not executing innocent people.

I personally believe capitol punishment is wrong in all cases. It makes no sense to try to show it is wrong to kill by killing. I also feel that continuing to execute people while so many other countries have stopped makes our country look backward and foolish in the eyes of the world.

I feel that in all criminal cases DNA testing should be done to prevent innocent people from being incarcerated.

I understand the whole situation! I am also fighting for freedom for a 16 year old sentenced to die in prison who is innocent of any involvement. I think the judges who are committing innocent people to prison need to be sentenced to prison! DA's and Prosecutors need to be "FIRED"! DNA in alot of courts is not admissable evidence, but should be allowed! Many times men have been sentenced to prison and spent many years in prison to find out later through DNA testing that they were innocent and wasted most of their lives in prison! What is wrong with America today? If this man is innocent then he should be freed!

I think Capital punishmnet should only be allowed in the violent acts that can't be justified in any way! Such as the killing and rapes of innocent little children! Killing a human being in the most violent way, that cannot be justified in any court of law!

Dear Sir, What harm could come from DNA testing? If it proves Mr. Arthur guilty, then his sentence will be carried out. If it proves Mr. Arthur innocent, then he will become a free man. Perhaps the DNA testing will point to the real perpetrator. I do not understand what you have to lose by allowing DNA testing on this man. You could save an innocent life or send a guilty one to die. What is the big dilema? By refusing to allow him to be DNA tested, you are looking pretty bad, sir. Sincerely, Lindie Heasler

i do believe that DNA should be mandatory to prove guilt orthe innocence of a crime.

i do not believe in an "eye for an eye" in that case everyone's eyes would be pulled out of it's sockets. capital punishment does not help decrease the crime rate. why kill a criminal? all it does is let them out the easy way, and who wants a killer to get the easy way out? not me!!!
