Say NO to wolf hunting in Sweden 2011!

I don't know exact date when The Swedish Environmental Protection Agency on behalf of the Swedish Government will make their decision, I only know that they will decide this issue sometime in December 2010.

Hopefully this petition will bring in enough signatures to make a difference in a short period of time, 7 days, and hopefully we will be able to hand the signatures over in time before the decision is made.

To be sure that at least my objection against this barbarian wolf hunt will reach the Policymakers in time, I have sent this letter today as an email to each Policymaker on the list. If you would like to do the same it would be great. The more objections the Policymakers will get the better it is. I light my candle and hope we are able to save some wolves this time.

Please note!

This petition can only be signed during a short period of time - only 7 days - and will be closed on December 10, 2010

In the letter I refer to a report (in Swedish), if interested you can download it

Dear Policymakers in Sweden,

We the undersigned, refer to the wolf report "Ulv i Skandinavia" from Viltskadecenter, dated November 3, 2010.

We say NO to license hunting of wolf in Sweden 2011!

It is time for us to speak out against Sweden's wolf hunting. The wolf hunting in Sweden is a shame. When you started it up again unfortunately Sweden left its position since decades as an environmental forerunner. To allow yet another wolf hunt in 2011 and kill critically endangered wolves risks to severely harm the already small and inbred wolf population of Sweden.

The wolf population is red-listed by scientists to be critically endangered in Sweden. As many as 20 other European countries have higher densities of wolves per surface unit than Sweden, all of which also have higher population density.

We ask you kindly not to allow yet another Wolf Hunt in Sweden like the one you allowed in January 2010. Wolf hunting is not acceptable in a country like Sweden who is famous of being an environmental forerunner.

A new wolf hunt is also not acceptable due to the fact that known dead wolves counts in the central authorities register, the numbers of wolves are far less than what the official information gives on hand. After the license hunt and before rejuvenation during April/May, the Swedish wolves (Norwegian wolves excluded), counted a minimum of 140 and a maximum of 169 wolves.

The wolf strain is seriously threatened and allowing a new license hunt
- without a proper consequence analysis of the wolf status
- without more specific information about the number of wolves and rejuvenations
- without results from the ongoing EU-examination
would not be to handle this issue in a serious way.

We sincerely ask you as Policymaker and spokesmen for your citizens to bethink and initiate important firmly established work on the implant of wolves and seriously work for an increased acceptance instead.

We sincerely ask you as Policymaker and spokesmen for your citizens to act wise and moderate and cooperate in the preservation of our wolf strain (common to the Norwegian) instead of the other way.

We ask you kindly not to perform yet another license hunt 2011 since the reasons are much too weak and the real strain far too small.

Yours Sincerely,
