Dear Catholic Diocese,

I understand that the building located at 621 Cathcart Ave, in the Lake Eola Heights Historic District of Downtown Orlando, is to be razed and replaced with a meditation garden. This decision is disappointing, especially given the fact that a feasible alternative is available.

This building represents a style of architecture specific to an era of American History and to Lake Eola Heights, and as such, must be preserved.  Despit a public outcry you have chosen to disregard the significance of this important building.

This particular building is an essential legacy of the architecture of the early 20th century and I would like to see it preserved for future generations to admire and study.

We understand that a beneficiary deeded this fine building to the Catholic Diocese and that it was used for theatre productions.  Since the Diocese no longer has any interest in this structure, perhaps it is time for the Diocese to deed the building to an organization that will return its use to the preservation of the arts and culture.

Please help preserve our neighborhood and reconsider your decision to demolish this great 1920's masterpiece.
