There is something that everyone can do today to stop the devastation caused by spinal cord injury. Prominent researchers have proven that a damaged spinal cord can now be regenerated. A cure is imminent. Investment in continuing this research and taking it to clinical trials will result in reversing paralysis in those millions already injured, and save those in the future from ever having to suffer such a fate.

I have a friend with a brother who is 23 and in a wheelchair "forever." He was in a motorcycle accident four years ago and is paralyzed. He can work, he can party, he can do a lot of things that everybody else does, but he can't use his legs. He's so young and yet living the life of someone far beyond his years. Lee deserves to be able to live a free life.

Please open your eyes and your heart; fund and support research in spinal cord injuries. It is so devastating to loose control of your body functions. Everyone sees paralysis as unable to walk. When one experiences the effects of SCI, you find you never get an uninterrupted nights sleep due to having to perform urinary catheterization, you have to perform a lengthy bowel program at the same time daily, you have trouble with your temperature control. The list is quite long for the changes one has to make. Sharon Sutton
