Banks want Congress to Dismantle a key terms of important consumer protection law, the Truth In Lending Act. Americans need to speak out.

Banks Are Being Greedy Again-Congress is Listening!

Target:
Congress, Senator Dick Durbin
Sponsored by:

First Banks grossly mismanaged their lending practices resulting in outrageous profits and bonuses to the banks and their executives, at a small cost of bringing America's economy to its knees.

Then the Banks benefit from a MULTI-BILLION bailout of the Banks, all funded by US taxpayers.

Now the Banks may be influencing Congress to prohibit or severely diminish consumer remedies under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) in a proposed legislation affecting bankruptcy laws.   The proposed legislation is called "Helping Families Save Their Homes in Bankruptcy Act of 2009".

The Truth in Lending Act was designed to protect Americans from unfair practices by the Banks.

If the Bankruptcy Code is amended to prohibit or severely limit remedies under the Truth in Lending Act in bankruptcy proceedings,  the Banks will avoid adverse consequences from their illegal and oppressive lending practices.  And, American Homeowners will be ripped off, again.

WARNING:  Congress is listening to the Banks!!!!  Let Congress listen to American Consumers.

STOP what you are doing and TAKE ACTION NOW.  Tell Congress to say "NO" to Big Banks!  Just fill in the form below and press "sign".

Immediately tell Congress the American people demand that Congress reject any proposal that prohibits or diminishes any remedies under the Truth in Lending Act in Bankruptcy Court.   Simply fill out the form and press "sign".  (See petition letter)

We understand Citigroup and other Banks support a proposed legislation entitled "Helping Families Save Their Homes in Bankruptcy Act of 2009"  and that the Banks may be asking Congress to prohibit or severely limit remedies under the Truth in Lending Act (TILA).

We object to any proposal by Citigroup or other Banks that in any way diminishes the terms or remedies of the Truth in Lending Act (TILA) for debtors in bankruptcy.  TILA which was designed to protect American Consumers from unfair and oppressive conduct by Banks.

We ask that Congress protect Americans against any Bank proposed or supported changes to the Bankruptcy Code that probhits or limits remedies under TILA in bankruptcy proceedings.

Thank you for protecting and responding to the will of "the people".

We the people should be the ones to vote on bailing out banks or any company because it is our tax dollars being used. Congress has done a great injustice to we the citizens of the US! This needs to stop. Make the CEO's that are stealing the money pay it back or have them bail out the banks!

I am so sick of Congressional leaders listening to lobbyist and not to the people who actually put them in the position to make those decisions. I think congress is in line for a major overhaul

I understand that banks help to fund the partied for canidates and such, so I also can understand how they can have some influence on our representitives. But how far can it go before the parties a contribution is called treason for the very fact that acts of our laws hurt citizens of america and make them fear their government to the point they feel opressed. Kind of like they did when our founding fathers came to north america and fought for our liberty? Please, keep our countries basic values alive, make sure it's fair for everyone it should be fair for.

Not only are the tax-payers bailing out the banks, but they are also paying again by the banks using predatory lending practices. The usery laws of each state should apply where the credit card holders live, not where the banks are incorporated. The tax-payers are tired of the politicians appearing they are working with the banks and large corporations to rip-off the taxpayer.

I think it is a mistake to remove the legal remedies on TILA. It would be better if lenders understand why they need to comply with the law to avoid the problem loans like the ones that currently exist.

Congreesmen, Please don't prohibit debtors from asserting Truth in Lending Act claims in the bankruptcy court, essentially making the act wholly ineffective from protecting Americans in bankruptcy from Bank misconduct and fraud.

this has gone far enough! stop taking food from the American people to fund these CEO's who already make too much money, let them live as we do, if we taxpayers have to repay the bailout we should at least have a say. I am totally disgusted with congress at this point, grow some, take charge, make this right!

Please help us keep the few rights we have left after the banks have put us into predatory loans and are now kicking us out on the streets in the middle of the winter. You have taken our bankruptcy laws. Wall Street is totally corrupt and steals and lies and we need protection from them. Please have a backbone and protect Americans.
