The freedom of speech is a wonderful thing and so are internet communities. People can have serious or light-hearted conversations and exchange opinions on various subjects. Sometimes people may disagree and that is just part of a discussion, nothing wrong with it.
But some people just randomly yell out insults like "troll", "noob", "idiot", "no one cares about your problems", as a response to serious threads. Such people should just get banned or at least suspended from the forum for a while. Lots of internet communities just let it slide, but they shouldn't, we should urge all internet communities to make sure that their forums are safe to write in, without people yelling out random insults!

We, who have signed this petition are offended by people randomly insulting us and our friends in internet forums. Disagreeing is fine, but people who yell out insults like "troll", "idiot", "noob" or "no one gives a shit", as response to a serious topic, just make people sad and angry.
Please, take online harassment more seriously and make sure people who post stupid insults in the forums aren't able to post there. This isn't an attempt to limit the freedom of speech, but to encourage it: So that people can write openly about their opinions and issues, without having to worry about people attacking them with random insults based on nothing.

I have been stalked by an absolute psycho and it has just about ruined my web life! I host a group about HIV and AIDS and other than the 1 known psycho have had othersl; all kinds of mysterious attacks. I'm sure the one person at least is mistaken me as a vulnerable and therefore attacking me? People are the craziest animals. I try to let it go. You know we ain't gonna like everybody out there, and visa versa, no matter who we are! You know people will crucify the best among them? It helps me to understand this - I don't have any use for worry and anxiety otherwise. People are the cwaziest animals! I love them anyway!! I think in forums threads and the blogosphere usually these out blurts are from people who are intellectually ineffectual and therefore are acting their shoe size at the time! I have something like this to think (to myself) at times like these - to whom it may concern - "Whatever d a!? You know get off the porch so to speak! Sit down, take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your mouth, you might learn somethin!!"

As much as I would hate to leave the group if it were not dealt with , I would. I know it difficult to geal with this issue online for the moderators, but they need to know about the problem and who it is. If they don't know they have no way to try to deal with it.

I think it is really stupid for a person to take a negative kind of attitude in the form of obscenities directed at a serious petition or news story that we are trying to get across. We call them trolls and we try to warn other people of their exsistence. However, it is sometimes met with hostility from the administrators of Care 2. We know who they are and how to protect ourselves by blocking them. This seems to upset the administrators. We are online all of the time trying to make a difference in the world. No, I have never been cyber-bullied but then I can take care of myself in situations like that. With the nature of my work, I receive my share of e-mails that could be construed as being bullied but not on the care 2 site.Well sometimes people can get bent out of shape if you don't agree with what they are trying to get across but then that is the nature of the beast and in my chosen profession, it happens all of the time.
