Stop Myspace and other sites from displaying ads for dieting.

Target:
Anyone who finds these ads offensive.

i find these ads offensive, because i run a site on myspace to help people with Eating Disorders and other things, i write blogs and post videos on this myspace. the people on this site are sometimes very fragile and even SEEING anything with a woman who they deem "skinnier" than they are will make them sink deeper into their dissorder. i find these offensive because people will and have gone to extremes to lose weight. and these ads, most of the time push them over the edge. or to try weight loss pills and end up OD'ing on them. or being admitted to the hospital, and i dont want to see them anymore.

We the undersigned would like to adress issues that we have been having with the ad's promoted on myspace.com, the dieting ads are very offensive to a lot of people and we would like them to be removed from the site. they can trigger people with eating disorders to become even worse than they were to begin with. We see these ads all over the place and we find them sickening. It makes us feel as if we are not good enough unless we are taking the product its advertising or unless we are as skinny as the women in these ad's. So only imagine how people with Eating disorders must feel when they see these types of ad's.

Please find a way to lessen these offensive ads on myspace.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

These ads that all of you woman hate have made me and people like me THOUSANDS of dollars. If you dont like the ads then you should get off of myspace or not be fat. If you are so fat and hate your self esteem then maybe you should try the diet products and make more people like myself LOTS more money!

I agree with you entirely. It's extremely annoying and also extremely unrealistic. Everytime I sign on to myspace I have to see a photoshopped side view of a person...which is underweight...not healthy weight. I know that these ads are crap but a young girl, say 13-17, may not know this. It only fuels eating disorders and the messed up body image that we have in this culture.

These ads are distasteful and terrible for a woman's self esteem! If there is a woman that needed help with dieting, she would not need to go to myspace to find answers! It's ridiculous!

I am a 22 year old woman currently in the stages of recovery. These ads are in fact triggering, ridiculous and false advertising. It is very offensive when the population of "unhealthy", impressionable people on myspace is growing by the day. These ads are targeting the vulnerability of people WITH & WITHOUT eating disorders and and is just plain wrong. Im sure the multi-million dollar corporation "Myspace" can seek funding elsewhere....maybe FOX CEO Ruperts salary???? This has got to stop!

This is such an important petition, it is hard enough having the temptation to look these ads up on my own, but now i don't even have to evil is staring me right in the face! Stay strong! we all need eachothers support!

These ads are MORE than offensive. I am a recovered anorexic. When I was sick, the mere suggestion of a weight loss program "triggered" me, and the pictures of such dramatic (although Photoshopped) weight loss did so even more. I'm tired of a world that seems to promote eating disorders. Get rid of the ads.

I was appalled and stunned when one of these ads - with the after picture showing someone who clearly looks, if not is, anorexic. As someone who is trying to recover from anorexia - and it's a struggle - I can't believe these ads even exist.

These ads promote unhealthy, dangerous weightloss, and are absolute torture to anyone suffering or recovering from an eating disorder. Being assaulted with a barrage of bony, stick thin torsos every time I log into myspace encourages the "think thin" mentality that I've fought so hard to overcome and sets me at war with myself. I often find myself having to close my browser because I literally cannot take the self-loathing and confliction that these ads evoke. I know that I can't be the only person who feels this way, and I also know that in the same way these ads tempt me to slip back into borderline starving myself, they motivate others to pursue, continue, or intensify unhealthy eating habits. It's been so hard for me to realize that being a skeleton with skin isn't the ideal definition of beauty, and these ads aim to negate that. They're more than wrong, they're twisted; and they need to stop.

I find these ads very offensive as well, especially the ones that try to personally target you based on the info you provide to myspace. For instance, because I'm 22, I see ads that say "Overweight at 22? Here's how to lose weight now!" ... or something similar. I don't think it's right, and would love to see it stop.

These ads sicken me, and it sickens me that Myspace would purposely and intentionally send a terrible message to millions of users every day in exchange for the almighty dollar.

These ads are ridiculous... they encourage RIDICULOUS weight loss. no one can lose THAT much weight THAT quickly and still be healthy. these are harmful not only for those with eating disorders, but for EVERYONE who believes them or feels worse about themselves for not being able to drop 57 pounds in 4 days.
