In Defense of the Dark Side of the Moon

Stop NASA From Bombing the Moon!

Target:
President Obama
We the undersigned are against NASA's LRCROSS plan to bomb the dark side of the moon at the South pole scheduled for October 8, 2009. The excuse given is that this is an effort to find water deep under lunar surface. But it also serves as a live-fire test exercise for US war strategists with an interest in the precision of orbiting satellite weapons%u2014in other words, the southern hemisphere of the Moon will be turned into a firing range, making this mission one giant leap for the global reach of space warfare. Secondly, LCROSS has been promoted as "the vanguard" for the US military-industrial-entertainment complex%u2019s return to the Moon%u2014according to NASA, finding water is a necessary first step for "building a long-term and sustainable human presence" there. Historically, the purpose of exploration has always been the exploitation of resources and the colonization of territory without regard for ecosystems or indigenous peoples, and clearly the Moon is the next territory coveted by imperialists. This so-called "NASA experiment" is a hostile act of aggression and a violent intrusion upon our closest and dearest celestial neighbor that will also have far reaching effects here on earth. Who knows how this will effect ocean tides and weather patterns, to say the least. We pledge solidarity with the Moon and ask your support in preventing this planned attack against her.  We pledge to do our part: to implore other celestial bodies and entities to aid her. To alk to her in our dreams, trances, or meditations. To send out imaginative protection to her, and put our dream bodies out there in front of any bombings. Collectively, we can sabotage the bombing by imagining all manner of things going wrong and by encouraging the Moon to increase her own magnetic shields. I am strongly opposed to this move. I feel a sort of sisterly love for the moon and I believe in treating the things Creator has made with respect and not just to further our government's selfish purposes. Leave my sister alone.

The moon is something of value to all human kind, regardless of nationality. I am incredibly disturbed that such a significant disruption of the moon's surface was planned without public comment or notice. Don't bomb our moon!

When I heard about this I was deeply disturbed-in shock in fact. I figured it must be a joke because the idea of it is so incredibly freakish. The desire to disrupt such a vital element of our universe shows just how tragic humanity has become. Let's not let this happen. The Moon belongs intact, and I certainly don't want the travesty to be hanging over my country's head.

We hold not only personal, religious or artistic attachments to our Moon. These are powerful enough, but there are also undeniable and specific scientific "attachments" between us and this object, the severing of which will most likely cause consequences that we A. should be able to fathom within the abilities of scientific prediction, and B. could not POSSIBLY fathom. We understand that space colonization is a priority given what we've done with the perfectly fine planet we already HAD, and we realize that we've approached our non-Earth habitation prospects with due hesitation, and we realize that NASA or whomEVER may feel up against a wall as to how they're going to deal with our coming need for a new place to live, but PLEASE, please, PLEASE! No one has the right to perform this atrocity! There are plenty of atrocities to get away with on Earth. There's no need to extend our psychotic behavior to a place our science hardly even understands, when our hearts know that what we are going to do is WRONG.

I think it's ridiculous that most people are only just learning about this and some still have no clue. We should have been asked about this. The moon is not the property of nasa. We should all be able to have our say and I believe the majority would say this is absolutely stupid and unnecessary. Many cultures worship or hold a reverance for the moon and this is disrespectful to say the very least. The moon is a vital part of our life on earth, we should be protecting it not doing anything that may possibly cause it damage.

This is abhorrent...How is this even happening...How is it no on asks our opinion...Humanities opinion...No one owns space...in fact no one owns anything...We are part of everything...If we hurt something we are hurting ourselves...I do not approve...God be with us...Stop this project and any beings out there, please come and assist us...This is unjust...The system must change to make leaders ask our opinion...No wars ever anywhere...No bombs ever anywhere...Feed the world and fix the environment..Wars, Armies and weaponry building must stop...in space and on earth...All that money must go to humanity environment and peaceful explorations and studies...other wise I am prepared to die for my beliefs, as we should and will if we people don't stop, before we ruin the planet, solar system and future of everyone and thing...These people are idiots to do such a thing

The repercussions of this are enourmous! I'm shocked that it was ever a consideration let alone a scheduled event! I cannot imagine that this bombing won't negatively impact our earth and stellar environment. And beyond that, once we cross this line, what's next? The benefits DO NOT outweigh the detriments. PLEASE, for our children, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

Since I was a little girl I have always felt a strong connection to our Moon, I found comfort, strength, and a strange sense being one with the Moon. Before bed each night I would stare with wonder at the bright silver globe that positioned herself as a silent guardian in the night sky, watching over us with her protective glow. Now, at 40 yrs of age, I still have that tradition of looking up at the Moon before sleeping, because, when you think about it, the Moon has always been there since the dawn of time, and even amidst an ever-changing world filled with violence, chaos, deceitfulness, devastating natural disasters, never-eding wars, and death, She has been the one constant in the lives of humans. Everything else has changed in one way or another, but not Her, not our Moon, she has remained the same for eons of time, and now, mankind has yet once again decided on an insanhe course that can only leave in its wake extreme, devastsing effects on our beloved Mother Earth and the human race that will be irreversable. Why are they doing this at all? So, why, in a time when we are all on the downside of a financial catastrophe, have over-populated countries, hungry, homeless people, and no where near enough money to solve the financial problems we are facing worldwide, why, are they going to waste billions of dollars to blow a hole in our Moon? The stupidity of mankind and their poor choices never fail to astonish me, and as for "our President Obama", what happen to his big talk about change? But then I guess we will all see a massive change worldwide when he allows the bombing of the Moon to actually occur. If you want to know wher Obabma stands inregards to his sympathy for the American peoples plight and the continued stability of the Universe and the Moon, just look into his eyes when he is speaking about love, peace and unity for all of mankind, the eyes belie his impassioned words. May the Goddess protect us all from this insanity. Love to you all.

We, as the human race, have caused enough destruction to Planet Earth;should we really be meddling with separate entities within space? Is this wise? By all means conduct experiments-but the potential for wrong-doing remains scarily real. Would it be possible for the wrong people to have so much power? Would it affect tides etc? Who can say? Indeed, would anyone say even if it were true? The whole planet is at stake here-just how necessary is bombing the moon? Could alternative technologies be developed? These are all questions that I personally-and many others, looking at this petition- would like a real and honest answer to, before I can feel comfortable with Nasa's decision to bomb the moon. Therefore I feel compelled to add my name here.

"If the true intent of the LCROSS mission moon bombing is a hostile act by NASA against known extraterrestrial civilizations and settlements on the moon, then NASA and by extension the U.S. government are guilty of aggressive war which is the most serious of war crimes under the U.N. Charter and the Geneva Conventions, to which the U.S. is subject. The U.N. Outer Space Treaty, which the U.S. has ratified, requires that “ The moon and other celestial bodies shall be used by all States Parties to the Treaty exclusively for peaceful purposes. The establishment of military bases, installations and fortifications, the testing of any type of weapons and the conduct of military manoeuvres on celestial bodies shall be forbidden.” 98 nations have ratified and 125 nations have signed the U.N. Outer Space Treaty." http://www.examiner.com/x-2912-Seattle-Exopolitics-Examiner~y2009m6d19-NASA-moon-bombing-violates-space-law--may-cause-conflict-with-lunar-extraterrestrial-civilizations

I dont believe, that any government of any country on planet Earth can think Moon belongs just to them and they can bomb it or do anything on it! Planet Moon is minimally the "property" of all governments on planet Earth, and also not just of people, but as well animals, plants and all life - as all Earth life depends on it! You disbalandce just a part of this harmony, and chain reactions of disaster after disastre will come. Stop to behave so egoistically and foolishly, please!

Is anything sacred anymore??? Stupid humans wanting now to bomb the moon. Have the consequences not been thought of??? It isn't fair to take these measures. The moon is for all of us...NOT JUST SOME WHO CHOOSE TO USE IT TO THEIR "DISPOSAL"!!! It is sacred and it has cared for us for longer than the human mind can fathom. Now, we destroy it??? WTF NASA???

This is a total waste of taxpayers' money at a time when we cannot afford to waste funds, and this is such a stupid thing to do. Leave the moon alone. Leave Mars alone. Concentrate on the world in which we live and stop trying to tear up others. We haven't done such a great job here that we should think ourselves above God and look to the stars.

Our Gov't/NASA has priorities wrong here. I think something this "impacting" could have HUGE SIDE EFFECTS. You don't mess with Mother Nature at this level. Scoping out a planet is one thing, "tweaking" it is another. Are we playing God here? I have always said, "Why the hell don't our 'super-brains' work with OUR people here.We need to focus on mankind, not outer space."If I was to be in that mindset it would be like a man obsessed with work and $$$$ while his family is starving. The brain has overridden the heart here. A time of dedicated prayer is necessary everywhere. It can only take GOD to nip this BS in the butt ; man's arrogance, ego and power-hungry greed is now about to feast on it's own stupidity.
