Stop Parking Meter Installation in Potrero Hill

Installation of parking meters in residential areas such as Potrero Hill makes no sense, especially on streets that are highly residential. Many car owners have no choice but to park on the street. MTA's proposed plan would install parking meters directly in front of large apartment buildings giving residents no options.

We the undersigned object to the installation of parking meters in our neighborhood. Potrero Hill is a residential community with some commercial business and many single- and multi-family residences. The installation of parking meters in our neighborhood on Pennsylvania Av, Mississippi St, 17th street and 16th street will prevent street parking for working people who have no alternatives, since many rely on street parking as their only option. Installation of parking meters will also inhibit traffic from stopping at neighborhood business establishments. We are not part of the Mission Bay development. Those developers should be required to provide adequate parking for their plans; we moved into the Potrero Hill neighborhood partially because of the relative ease of parking compared to the rest of the city. We strongly reject the notion of parking meters in front of our homes.
