The argument for the coalition is that the Liberals, NDP, and Bloc combined have more popular support. Yet no party campaigned on forming a coalition. Dion himself ran from the issue, rejecting the idea during the recent election: "You cannot have a coalition with a party that has a platform that would be damaging for the economy, period." No Canadian can legitimately claim that they voted specifically for a coalition, as no politician campaigned to support one. Ergo, the coalition has 0 votes to Harper’s 5.2 million votes. Democracy, indeed.

Canadians should be less concerned with what we 'can' do and start asking more what we 'should' do. Yes, legally the coalition 'can' form a government, but 'should' it is the question. I think we should not have a coalition governing our country as it 'should' not be our definition of democracy.

If this coalition happens, I am in support of the WEST establishing independence from the country. My vote is in. I have had "enough" of the eastern BS laws shoved down my throat that don't respect the life style of western Canadians. I was born in Ontario and have lived out west for more then 20 years, this is the best of the nation here. Hard working, leave me alone government type people here. We voted for a PM that seems to want to unite the country, NDP, Liberals and the Bloq are all attempting to disunite us as a country. I hope all Canadians see that as clear as I do. There timing sucks! There is more important issues at hand is there not????

No coalition. Tell the spoiled brats to grow up.What an insult to Canadians. The Liberals, NDP and the Bloc are a bunch of whinners who cannot accept the fact THEY LOST. Suck it up and grow up!Next time we wil have a majority Conservative party and there will be nothing these anti-democartic morons will be able to do.. BooHoo!

Canadians have voted for the conservatives and Stephen Harper. I will add that most of the people who voted for either of the three other parties DID NOT VOTE for a coalition, they voted for each party respectively.

If this coalition makes it through, then I will never ever vote again...what is the point? Obviously our votes don't matter. I can't believe that they are spending more of our tax dollars on this BS rather than working together to fix the issues within this country! It is absolutely ridiculous and they all need to stop acting like children!

The electors have spoken. This is a democratic nation and has to be protected by all concerned. The bottom line is the coalition activists are trying to change the will of the people - this must not happen.

Clearly a power grab that should not be allowed. The Liberals were caught drinking at the trough before and have lost the respect of Canadians and are now being punished. Their arrogance is stated in their view that they think they can and should run Canada better than the elected party. I can only hope that if an election is called that Canadians can wake up and make it to the polls and support practical conservative politics and policies forwarded by Harpers Conservatives putting these would be usurpers in their place

Although the coalition hasn't resorted to arms, the members are no better than others who we condemn when governments are taken over unilaterally, without the vote of the people. This is cloaked in the guise of a democratic process, but is no different from a dictatorship. Shame on any and all who support this abuse of power!

Please read the 2 polls that came out yesterday - they are very clear and reflect what Canadians want. Even if the Liberals find a new leader, the public wants, by a significant majority to have Prime Minister Harper lead us through the initial stages at least of this impending downturn. The plotters need to stop trying to find fault and scandal, as they did in the 39th parliament, and get to work. I am sure that a time out you wisely approved will help the Liberal Party re-think the wisdom of trying to lead a fractious group; meanwhile, the elected government can get on with the job, as they ARE ready to go.

Canada is a democracy and while I did not vote for Mr Harper in the election I do believe he won fair and square. Mr Dion needs to accept this and move on.

We have already voted for a government. I respect that others do not beleive as I do. Therefore, if this make up of the government is what the people wanted, then all the parties need to work together.

I am also very dissapointed in the voting system. We voted, our party officially, legally won and now the other parties are joining together to overthrow the government! I am shocked and dismayed that this would be allowed to happen! If they had so few votes why wouldn't they have formed a coalition Before the vote and then legally got into government! I wonder if it was a Liberal government and the Conservatives tried doing this what a stink the Liberals would have!!!

Why did I go to the trouble of following the election and voting? I am very disappointed in the opposition party leaders. Can't we as Canadians get along and work together to do what is best for our country.
# 966:

It is very suspicious that within 1week of the election that the opposition parties suddenly have a rvelation that they should try and topple the goverment. They say they are doing this FOR the country. what has happened since they started, markets have plunged. what does this say to the world? That we have a bunch of whiny kids that never learned to play together. JAck Layton is always pushing for "green" stuff yet he wants to bail out the auto industry? I guess he know where his votes come from! How do these men and women sleep at night? Dion couldn't organized a one float parade! Canada needs to provide stimujlus yes but not at a cost to oour great great grandchildren. That kind of spending got us were we are today. Grow up people and give the ELECTED GOVERMENT a chance. Otherwise why did I bother to vote at all, lets just let whoever wants to say " I have the confidence of the house" run the country. Dion's own party doesn't support him.How is he supposed to run the country? As for the Bloc to me they shouldn't have a say as they could care less what happens to Canada. Its time to shut up and get on with the business of running the country. If this can't happen call another election and we'll see how the canadian people deal with the individuals who put us here!!

This plan to overthrow our goverment was in the works right after the election. The update that Prime Minister Harper gave last weak was just that an update. The budjet and stimulus package was set to be given at the end of January. It sounds prudent to wait and see what happens to the big three auto makers south of the border rather than just handing out billions of dollars to the canadian auto industry just to find out they our goiing into a restructuring position. It also seems to me that three parties that have been fighting for the last 100 years could not possibly be thrown together at the last second work together for the good of Canadians and make rational decisions. Our government was elected by the people of Canada. Even people who voted for Liberals or NDP did not vote for this coalition. Let the people decide not three leaders who only look out for there own gain.

Canada is supposed to be a democratic country, and now we have a handful, literally, of individual that are telling the canadian people, that as a group we do not know what we want. We have put a government in power through a nation wide election, and these few self centered power hungry individual say we don't know what we want??? WE as Canadians do not want a COALITON government, that's not what we voted for. Dions own party does not want him. They are squabbling among themselves already and can't agree. We don't want this to lead us, They will take us straigt to hell. This would be a step towards communism
# 958:

If any changes are tried in our current government there should be a referendum so that all Canadians can decide what we want. Remember this is a democratic country and govt. is owned and directed by all of us.!! We're not a big business that can be taken over by a bigger business in a hostile take over. Grow the " He** up and act like responsible adults instead of a bunch of grade school kids bickering over the best ball during play time!! No wonder people can't be bothered to vote, those that didn't have no faith that the govt is representetive of them or will listen to what they need to live . The rich are getting richer and are so far removed from the everyday worker that apathy is growing. Historically this is followed by a revolution , so heads up , we're getting very angry and we're soon not going to take it anymore..
