please do not cut funding to these state parks. they are all beautiful and visited frequently by many people. losing these as a state park would be a terrible shame. here are signatures from many others that feel the samw way.
We signed the "STOP THE CLOSING OF 11 ILLINOIS STATE PARKS" petition!

Our so called governor has decided to close state parks all around the state because of funding issues. With the recent news that he was arrested and formally charged with trying to sell Barack Obama's senate seat, I can only hope that the money he was going to get from selling the senate seat would be used to reopen these parks.(LOL) I know that sounds far fetched, and it is. Rod Blagabitch is by far the biggest idiot and ignorant individual that this state has ever voted into office. My 5 year old son could run this state a million times better than he has already. Impeach Blagabitch

With the downturn in the economy likely to last a few years it would be a very poor decision to close any state parks. Family vacations will stretch limited budgets and camping is a low cost alternative to the more typical luxury vacations.
They should be marketing the parks for increased use, not closing them. Open peoples eyes to the open air fun and bonding that happens when camping. Get people out of their homes into the fresh air. Get the kids away from the TV and games that are robbing them of their imagination.

Please do not close down 12 of the 12 places we have to go in this state! There is not alot of activity for the local children to pass time on. Please fund our parks so they do not close in the near future!

If this is your idea of governing Governor,I suggest that you resign and find work more suitable to your financial capabilities. I not only voted for you, but put a sign in my lawn for all to see. Closing these parks is the last straw in your administrations poor ability to lead. You are done in politics in my home as well as other homes in my community. Please do us all a favor and resign as soon as possible, and let someone else lead our State in reopening our State's treasures. How many times have you used our parks since you have been in office (other than for fundraising events)?

Gov. Blagojevich, Please reconsider closing the state parks. My family and many other families in the state of Illinois, enjoy our wonderful state's beauty. Castle Rock has some of the best hiking trails in Northern Illinois. We have so many wonderful memories of hiking together as a family. It is one of the few things a family can do that does not cost a lot of money and that teenagers enjoy doing with their parents. Now we are grandparents and we hope that we can share the wonderful outdoors and trails with our grandchildren. Again, I ask you to reconsider this decision.

Every day we read about millions of dollars spent to aquire land for park district expansion. Then what do we do with existing donated land that is available for free use by the public? Make it unavailable for public use? This is absurd. Blagojevich should change his mind regarding this action. The Hennepin Canal is a unique and beautiful park not far from Chicago and suburbs.

It is hard for me to believe state parks can be closed. This could be a great issue for a politician's running for office. This govenor will not get my vote. Hopefully others will follow and let the ballot change something that should have not been done.

I have repeatedly written and called legislators urging them to start a program and charge and entrace fee per vehicles who enter our state parks. We are campers and Illinois is the only state that does not charge and entrace fee for it's state parks!!
Offer Illinois residents an annual pass and then charge a flat entrance fee per vehicle for all other visitors.
This would infuse the DNR with much needed funds. If nothing else it would help the parks become more self sustaining!
Stop the stupidity in Springfield!! Don't close our treasured parks in Illinois!

I may live thousands of miles aways but the Blackhawk statue is part of my heritage. It is a beautiful place to be shared with citizens.
As the economy gets worse, people should have the parks availavble for recreation!
