Cruel illegal practice of heart sticking animals without anesthesia in an animal shelter. Cats and dogs.

Stop the cruel killing of animals due to overcrowding

Target:
Government Officials in Tennessee and Washington
UPDATE TO THE Undercover video footage that reveals inmate workers at the Sumner County Animal Shelter in Tennessee were lifting dogs into the air by the skin on their necks and dangling them in front of veterinarian William Baber, who illegally jabbed them in their hearts through the chest wall  with a long needle. With NO anesthesia.  HE  HAD HIS LICENSE SUSPENDED 12/13 for  only 4 months, AND HIS OFFICE IS CLOSED.
BUT.......................
MORE GOOD NEWS EVERYONE, THE VET HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH 12 DIFFERENT COUNTS....... HE WAS PICKED UP AND TAKEN TO JAIL YESTERDAY.  YEAAAAAAA !!! WE ARE ALL JUMPING UP AND DOWN. THE D.A. DID WHAT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.  HE DID IT RIGHT.  FELONY AND CRUELTY CHARGES  ARE AMONG THE CHARGES TOO.  THIS WILL MAKE ALL VETS IN THIS STATE TAKE STOCK OF HOW THEY ARE TREATING ANIMALS NOW.  MOST ARE PRETTY GOOD, BUT THERE ARE STILL SOME WHO NEED TO GET THIS MESSAGE LOUD AND CLEAR.

We need this petition to show the prosecutors that citizens all over America will not tolerate this kind of cruelty to animals, EVER.

Help stop cruelty in all Animal shelters in Tennessee.  So please continue to pass this along to family and friends who care about animals.  Some Vets don't place the same importance on shelter dogs.  Dr. Baber stated that in his court hearing.  It is as if they have a Gold Star on their foreheads the minute they arrive.  Scheduled for execution unless the owner comes to rescue them or a new parent adopts them.  In many cases the word "shelter" is a misnomer, "what shelter does it provide" we have to ask. A cage to sit and wait for death? They are better off on the street than in there.  This State needs to get the picture that other states have gotten, CLEAN UP THE PUPPY MILLS, and spay and neuter mobile clinics are desperately needed.  That is the long term answer.

Thank you, from all the animals who must die.  At least it is now humane, and a vet is doing this "free" for the County, and this man is getting exactly what he deserves.

thanks everyone.

Great news, thanks to all of you that cared enough to sign my petition, the cruel vet that we wanted prosecuted? He was picked up yesterday, and taken to jail. 12 counts have been filed against him, possible felonies plus animal cruelty charges too, Thank God, this man will not be operating as a veterinarian anymore. His office is closed, his license was suspended and he is in jail. Hooray !! Thank you, all of you. If the woman had not gotten that inmate to video tape this man in the act of cruelty and hired an investigator, plus your signatures, this would still be going on I am sure. So I praise her for her moxie and praise you for your big hearts. Most sincerely, Sandra

I'm glad the vet's license was suspended but this cruelty must not go on anywhere.

Our country needs to concentrate on trap and neuter programs instead of kill programs for the overpopulation of cats and dogs. People must take responsibility.

It is absolutely appalling that something like this can happen in a civilzed country! All animals have right for a chance at life and decent living conditions in shelters. All the participants in thses awful practices should be punished severely, especially the vets!!!

UPDATE !! The vet that was videotaped cruelly murdering innocent dogs with a heartstick. HIS LICENSE HAS BEEN SUSPENDED TILL APRIL 2008.

Would you want your pet traumatized by cruel treatment and killing in a shelter. We need NO KILL shelters that work to get animals adopted.

Why would anyone think they have the right to harm another living thing? It seems to me that someone who feels that way is pretty egotistical and unempathetic. I am concerned about the welfare of our society when the media glamorizes images/stories that perpetuate "me" centered thinking and shallow living. I believe that helps to create people who seem incapable of thinking of others.

We need no kill shelters across the country and more work to increase spaying of animals.

What a horrible thing to do. I am sick to my stomach. This vet 's license should be taken away forever and he should spend time behind bars.

What does this say about people that feel they need to take aggression out on innocent animals. Why does one think that they are so superior that they have the right to do as they please to animals (and maybe people) smaller then them. I don't understand those types of people.... I want to do what it takes to stop them!!!!!!!!!!

This is unbelievably terrible. Unfortunately there are situations due to overcrowding and such where euthanasia is a necessary evil. It should be HUMANELY done. William Baber should be lifted up by the scruff of his neck and a needle jabbed into his heart. Please do not let this man get his license back!!!!! Something needs to done about whats going on....!!!

This is so wrong, we have no kill shelters here in Oregon and thats the best way to go. I think all vets that do this crap should have the same treatment done to them and let them feel the pain, let them suffer

As a third year law student, I would hope that the district attorney's office in Tennessee will take action against this cruel and blatant violation of the law.

Having previously worked in an animal shelter, I realize the concerns there are with overcrowding and animal disease control. However, there are also humane methods and procedures to follow concerning animals and this is one of the most unjust cases I have heard of. Anyone who dares to cross the line into this kind of cruelty deserves just punishment as any criminal breaking the law. Demand the laws that protect not only our animals, but human beings ourselves be upheld!

No animal deserves to be treated inhumanely. We need to strive for a proactive means of controlling cat and dog populations, but when euthanasia is required, the least that can be done is to ensure that it be humanely carried out.

Cruelty to animals should not be tolerated by any state in this great country!!

This veterinarian (Dr. Baber)'s license should be permanently taken away, and he should also face criminal charges and go behind bars, along with his assistants.

How could someone have the heart to do this to some poor animal that can't even protect itself. They don't deserve to be treated this way just because,"THERES NO ROOM IN THE INN".

If this was my animal then i would be so mad that i would probabley call the animal crualty cops and i would have those fired and there would be no killing in tennessee or in other place in the world.I'm sure that the owners that cant find there animals are upset.I would knowing that there is people at my nearest shelter!!!!!!
