I strongly urge you to oppose the upcoming government spending spree, otherwise known as President Barack Obama's "stimulus" package.
I know the temptation to "do something" about the current economic situation may be strong, but last year's financial bailout once again showed us that rushing in with tax money is irresponsible. Haste makes waste.
I'm counting on you to not give away hundreds of billions of dollars for projects with questionable economic impact. The "stimulus" plan is turning into a giveaway for states, cities, and other politically-connected special interests, and my friends and family shouldn't be forced to finance any lobbyist's wish list.
I'm also concerned about President Obama's pledge to hire 600,000 more federal government employees. I'll be on the hook for paying their salaries, their benefits, and their pensions! No thank you.

I am against any bill which claims to be an aid to the economy but is actually a spending bill designed to fill the pockets of liberal democrats and their supporters; ACORN, PETA, NOW, ACLU etc... I know the folks in Washington D.C. live in their own little world but they need to wake up to the fact that hard working Americans are fed up with the lies, deceptions, cover ups, and undermining of the fabric of this country. Elections do come around; and America is listening.

This is a Travesty against American Citizen. If this happened a 100 years ago politicians would be feathered tarred and hung and treated as an enenmy of the United States. We are very disappointed in the passage of this stimulus package. It is unorganized, unfocused and is going to put a tremendous and unnecessary burden on our country, our children and our grandchildren. There are a few things in it that are fine, but the majority is a horrible waste of taxpayer money, or should I say taxpayer debt that we have no idea when or how it will be paid.

Once again our government blunders its way through but this time it will affect so many. I do not believe this is the stimulus bill that we need nor want. I see more and more people losing their homes and savings over the next few years. I think that if I were going to spend about a trillion dollars on something, I would personally think it best to read the fine print entirely before signing.

The people are not fooled by the irresponsible actions taken by the President and Congress this week. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are all proving that the job of being the American people's President/elected representatives "above their pay grade". I completely oppose the disastrous economic strategies set forth in the so-called "stimulus bill". In spite of Obama's rhetoric encouraging phony bipartisanship, ordinary citizens are already discussing the harm this measure will cause. The Obama administration may attempt to silence "talk radio"-- but it cannot silence ordinary citizens' right of free speech and assembly. Already, complete strangers are speaking with one another-- in shops, standing in line, on the street-- are discussing this irresponsible legislation. Barack Obama's economic policies are completely opposed to the will of the American people. Citizens who voted for Obama and Biden are having second thoughts. In the end, the voice of the people will prevail and we will as a nation return to our democratic "roots" of civic responsibility AND responsible government.

Seriously, I welfare spendathon is not a stimulus. If you would have simply, implemented some job training programs, lowered business taxes and maybe expanded unemployment benefits (but only for those in a job training program) I would have been with you, but a lefty and special interest wish list is not stimulus!

This is lunacy. Our "meltdown" was caused by people spending money they did not have and taking out loans they could not afford to pay. How is further, unprecedented spending the answer to this? In most cases the "do-nothing" alternative is not viable, but I feel it would work far better than anything else proposed. Let the makers of the bad loans go under and the weak companies close.
