STOP throwing our pets in landfill!

Recently it has come to my attention that council contractors employed by local councils are collecting deceased pets from our roads, not scanning for microchips or bothering to check lost reports or even checking collars for ID and then dumping them in landfill. Distressed pet owners are left searching for their beloved pet and not getting the closure and final goodbye they deserve. This is not on! Our pets are part of our family and if they sadly get out and are killed on the roads we DESERVE to be notified, we DESERVE to identify our pet and we DESERVE to choose what happens to our deceased pet. We demand that a deceased animal be placed on cold storage for a MINIMUM of 24 hours whilst every attempt is made to locate the deceased animals owners.

Please sign this petition which will be sent to the Hon Kate Ellis MP, Julia Gillard PM and Mike Rann to demand that our pets are treated better!

We demand that a deceased animal be placed on cold storage for a MINIMUM of 24 hours whilst every attempt is made to locate the deceased animals owners this includes mandatory microchip scanning, searching council lost reports, checking collars for identification and contacting the appropriate person should there be identification on the animal and keeping a PUBLIC record of all domestic pets collected by council contractors from the roads.
