This is a critical time for the future of Incline Village. Not only is our kids' education at stake, but the viability as a year-round, family community as well. We now have the opportunity to be part of the solution. The Incline Schools Reflective Task Force's best proposal is the International Baccaluareate (IB) program, www.ibo.org. It could be implemented at all three of our schools and is for ALL kids Pre-K through 10th and only the highly motivated at 11th and 12th. If you have read about IB and/or seen one of the IB presentations and would like to show your support of the program to Superintendent Dugan, please sign the petition below and send it to others in the community. Everyone, from the students and schools to the businesses, would benefit from this world-recognized, respected, and marketable program. We would attract new families and keep those that we already have and truly would be "The Education Destination" at the Lake.
We hope to submit the petition to the Superintendent at the last Task Force meeting on Thursday, May 14th at 10:00 a.m., Parasol building.
Should you have any questions about IB, Jeni Cross has said that she'd be more than happy to answer them the best she can. Cross also has a very informative powerpoint on IB that you may request from her. Cross's e-mail is: jcross@washoe.k12.nv.us.

Thank you to everyone who helped support the International Baccalaureate program by signing this petition. I know the superintendents were impressed with the Task Force and the community support (via the petition) for the IB Program. I attended the last meeting for the Task Force where the superintendents spoke about the results. Not only were they supportive of the IB program, Dugan is adding $5,000 to the IB fund to get it up and running as soon as possible.
If you are interested in learning more about what IB can do for our kids and schools, please attend Dr. Jerry Chris' presentation on Wed., June 3rd at 5:30 in the IHS Theatre. Dr. Chris is an acclaimed educator and former IB coordinator from Mission Viejo and has presented for IB all over North America. We look forward to seeing you there.
